What makes you think any of them had a car. Heh We do see there are people unhappy with the video, on CF or not. You're saying not a single one of them, regardless of their race, could be upset because it's a black man getting beaten up? You made a pretty strong implication that there are white people out there who are only happy because the white guy won, but now you don't want to accept the possibility of a black person being upset only because the white guy won. Don't start a "race relation" thread if you don't want to go there.
I definately think latent racism is playing a role in the perception of the incident and what seems to be a romanticizing of Epic Beard Man. From reading the main thread on the video and other comments it seems like a lot of loaded terms, such as "ghetto", "gangsta", and "thug", are used to describe Michael, the black man. At the sametime though racism is hard to avoid as the woman who took the video is deliberately inflaming racial tensions by telling Michael to "beat his white ass." In the end of this was an ugly situation so it should be no surprise that the perception of it is colored by some ugly views that we hold. On a bit of a tangent there is one person in this whole situation I don't think has gotten as much attention as she deserves. In the video there is an older black woman sitting behind Amberlamps. A few times she tries to tell Michael to sit down and tells them both to stop it when the fit actually breaks out.

aside from the earlier post, I think you would be surprised how many 9-5 black people aren't happy or are tired of thuggish guys like the guy on the bus. he isn't the most defendable of characters
It's a true shame that people bring up the racial differences between the two of them. Instead of bringing up that they are idiot's, all you hear is "the white guy" and "the black guy".. I'm from Sweden and even here we don't talk like that, making differences by color.. That's not cool, the thing that should be brought up is that the two of them are pathetic.. I saw this interview with the older guy and he was acting like all crazy and nothing about him seemed normal so I bet he said racial crap towards Michael and Michael, wow.. That dude was just an idiot, throwing a punch at someone like that is just plain silly and especially when you even can't defend yourself.. If you overlook all the racial crap I think the video is hilarious and I hope Michael's girlfriend, Amber Lamps came to the rescue..
it was the easiest way to distinguish them when we didnt know their names. if you read the original thread, when people were calling them beatlejuice and pinky it was causing some mix-ups - i used the term 'black guy' b/c we didnt know his name and i saw other posters confusing who was who. i would have also used the term 'white guy' or 'crazy white guy', but we already knew him to be Epic Beard Man. and going back and watching that video, the girl filming the exchange was the one making the most racist comments. and i have to say from my experience that euros in general are much more racist/race conscious than americans. even more so than chinamen.
A lot of people (youtube commenters, e.g.) probably read a lot into it about race that didn't need to be read into it - the video itself I found more sad and an issue of class distinction rather than race, two down-and-out guys at the fringes of society, one or both of whom was suffering from mental illness and substance abuse problems, getting into an epically pointless fight. I mean silly and unnecessary even on the scale of fights, which are all dumb and useless by definition. It's basically one step above watching bumfights videos. However I did laugh quite a bit at some of the meme-photo shops and videos afterwards which I guess makes me kind of a douche.
Seems like the white guy kinda baited him though. Still, they both are idiots. The racist remarks both ways...particularly against the guy Michael is pretty ridiculous. There's a lot of racism in this country man.
So if a crime is committed in Sweden, they don't ask for physical characteristics (such as skin color)? If you are trying to distinguish between two people and the most dominating characteristic is their skin color, doesn't it make sense to say "the black guy" or "the white guy"?
I believe the concept of an acutal Swedish DD mocker may in fact be more fiction than truth, though I wish it were true.

Regarding pgab's question (and I am surprised you took so long to ask it because I was 100 % sure it was going to come from you ): Personally: No, the color of their respective skins played no role. But I think that your observation is correct that it does play a role in the popularity of the video. I was shocked by the racist comments on youtube, with very frequent use of the "N" word. I think that those commenters are a lot more racist than EBM ever was.
