No I'm actually serious. You guys do not know about respect for True Rocket players. It's all about paying homage and recognizing who has does done so much in only 3 seasons. He has a place in every Rocket fans heart for a long long time to come. You just don't understand what that means
I respect what he did for the Rockets and will certainly admire his grit and sacrifice for our team but he is no longer with us. I get people's emotion over seeing him in an opposing team's uniform. Someone's 'member join date' doesn't constitute understanding his significance in Rockets history. Maybe you equate someone's 'member since' date to their actual age. Weird. But all I saw tonight was the Rockets losing. People getting all weepy and nostalgic over Landry are missing the bigger picture; this loss was a deterrent towards our small chance at making the playoffs. Granted, a lot of games left but I rather cry over the Rockets losing than FSN not fully covering every single moment Landry picked his nose.
I know plenty about respect. I've been watching the Rockets since the early 90s and to this day I still remember crying when I heard the Rockets traded Hakeem Olajuwon. None of that has anything to do with this. I really like Carl Landry, he seems like a really cool guy and he played some great basketball as a Rocket. And believe me, I was disappointed to hear that he was traded, hell, I spent the first couple of days after the trade watching Landry tribute videos. The thing is, it's been about two weeks since that trade happened... the amount of crying over losing him seems a little unneccessary.
Landry is great, but there comes a point you have to forget about it. He's not wearing a Rockets uniform anymore and worshiping him won't bring him back. It's part of the game. Most teams don't even think about making tributes for a 3rd year, sixth man player, so it's quite obvious how much he meant to this organization and fan base. I'm certain he knows that by now. We've done our jobs to let him know how thankful we are but we need to move on and be more concerned with the playoffs. It's nothing like when we lost Hakeem...
So we are not allowed to respect him as a player now that he is no longer a Rocket? **** that. This is a guy who got shot in the leg and came back 2 weeks later to have a career night. This is a guy who lost teeth during games. This is a guy who always played with his heart on his sleeve night in night out. Yes, he will be missed. Yes Landry had many fans (including myself). And yes we are going to follow him in Sac and hope nothing but the best for him.
To the OP: FSN needs to make money. By airing commercials when the actual game isn't happening. Meaning what happens on the court during timeouts, halftime shows, and other things won't usually be shown at all.
We can and should respect Landry - tonight that is. Tomorrow it's a whole new world. You have to admit, tonight's loss kinda sucked. If anything, it stung especially since Carl was on the team. Makes me a little more angry. Go Rockets!
Good point. Now if we can get a copy of that vid here. Don't we have some people working on the inside that can have access to this vid? Or maybe the Rockets website has it. I couldn't find it there. What ever happened to Hilltoper? Didn't he used to give us videos of interviews after the game? Maybe he has access to this as well.
yup. if you like basketball, you like carl landry. undersized but still performs to a high level, great attitude. everyone just needs to settle down telling people what they can and can't post about.
I appreciate FSN need to make money, but as a fan who lives outside Houston, I was READY to give Landry a standing ovation in my living room. I was shocked to find out that they didn't show his intro. Then I wasn't surprised that they didn't show the Landry highlights. Isn't FSN for fans too?
The tribute was amazing and the cameramen really fudged up even at the arena by not showing Carl in the introductions, for some reason he panned to Omri Casspi and I was like "That's not Carl Landry"

Look.. for all you people who commented on my post and said I should move on and I should root for the Rockets, etc. I was rooting for the Rockets tonight and I was pissed they lost. I think wanting to see a tribute to Landry has nothing to do with that. FSN could've replayed Landry's intro and the crowd reaction in the 2 or 3 minutes the announcers try to kill before the game. They could've shown the Landry tribute during halftime. I work in tv production. In fact, I put together the halftime tribute to Dream when he came back with Toronto 9 yrs ago. Bottom line.. there's no shame being a Landry fan for life after what he did here. I never stopped loving Cassell or Horry when they left. They played with heart just like Landry. You can be a fan of another player and still root for the Rockets. I guess some of you people root for laundry, as Seinfeld says.
Well... Horry and Cassell helped bring CHAMPIONSHIPS to Houston. Landry is gone, and in the big scheme of things his biggest accomplishment with this team is probably gonna be netting Kevin Martin. Oh, and a block in a playoff series that the Rox lost a couple of years ago. So... Go Landry!!! We will never forget you and we love you!!! I guess.
Really miss Landry's game. I think when Kyle gets back, some of that will god way but for now, I'm not seeing anyone who seems like they want to win besides Luis. AB just keeps jacking up shots and even when they're falling, it just doesn't have the energy you give off when you attack the paint and get fouled. Ditto for Martin. The thing is, Landry was like the happy go lucky bull that was up for sixth man of the year. Ask Dallas how important Terry is to them. I see the need for Martin. I don't see the need to give up Landry because like I said, only him, lowry and scola seem to want to win this season. Oh and by the way, I'm sure some of you are Lebron fans or Kobe fans and still want Rockets to beat their teams. Why can't we have Landry fans? Whats the difference?
He helped us win our 1st playoff series in 12 years. He helped us in the playoffs after being shot. He hit most of our clutch shots this year. He's probably the best 2nd rd draft choice in Rockets history. What's your deal? Are you really a Rockets fan?
