To be fair, he does miss a lot of free throws at the end of games.

I agree Brooks has hit some clutch shots but none that I recall winning the game for us (maybe, but don't recall any).
In the video you posted, we were already ahead and he actually lost the ball and happened to get it back and loft it up in time.
Actually, he has thrown the ball away quite a few times when trying to score in the last seconds of a quarter, the half, the game (pick one).

Don't get me wrong, I am a Brooks fan but I do get frustrated in his inability to be clutch (heck, hitting a clutch free throw would have been a nice start).

Let's hope he figures this out and can be more of a closer in tight games.

I have to agree with the OP. Brooks is clutch but only in situations when the rockets already have a lead. When they are down, he chokes - especially in free throws. I rather have Martin take the shot.

there is video evidence in this very thread that contradicts what you are saying.

Yes, aaron shot only 36% from the field, however Martin shot only 23% today, why would he take the final shot?

What evidence? All the videos are of AB taking clutch shots when Houston is leading.

Martin has proven statistically (vs AB) that he has a better chance to hit the shot. Although I don't know how he performs in clutch situations, I just feel more comfortable with someone who could. Martin did kinda stink tonight though.

Yes that one was the game-winner.

Eh, Deron William choked the same way (or worse) two nights ago, and I don't see Utah fans up in arms about his "clutchness."

You read my mind. I was literally just about to post that. I was watching that game. Here is the box score from Monday night: http://www.nba.com/games/20100301/UTALAC/gameinfo.html#nbaGIboxscore

The Jazz were down by 2 with 16 seconds left. Williams missed not 1 but both FTs (he was trying to make both).

Even reliable Landry missed 2 straight in a clutch situation earlier this season when he was still with us. I can't recall which game.

Most people here primarily watch Rockets games. They don't always see all the critical shots missed by players around the league almost every single night.

Having said that, going back to the end of last season, Brooks has hit some kind of mental block at the line. There is no excuse for a player with his shooting ability to be anywhere below 85% and he should be better in clutch situations. He needs to fix that.

One thing about Brooks that has always kept me believing in him despite all the weaknesses in his game is that I've always felt that he can deliver in the clutch. He hit something like 6 game-winners at Oregon and despite the OP's assertion, he's hit a number of big shots just going back to last season. It's easy to forget the positive after the fail we witnessed last night.

I still think he has that quality in him as hard as it is to believe after failing last night. I really do.

If you're serious, I am 99% sure that Lowry was relieved that Brooks took that shot instead of passing the ball to him.

Lowry's a stud but he knows his limitations. That's part of what makes him a very good decision-maker.

He has a lot on his shoulders right now... We have a 50% hole at PG with Lowry out...
