houston gets: 15th pick glenn robinson milwaukee gets: kelvin cato walt williams bryce drew 4.5 mil exception draft o.o., demarr johnson, najera pf:thomas/najera sf:robinson/dermarr johnson c lajuwon/oyedeji sg:anderson/cuttino mobley pg:francis/norris ------------------ johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis. dan roan: why!!!!! johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.
Throw in Ervin Johnson, we would need a center. And Big Dog would have to play the 4 because Mobley will most likely want a starting clause. ------------------ [This message has been edited by DaFranchise (edited June 12, 2000).]
I'd have to really think about maybe not resigning Mobley if he demanded a starting clause, cause I think he may be more successful off the bench. The bench unit, he's the scorer. In the starting he'll have to limit his chances because Walt, Shandon, and Steve are in the game. Milwaukee could only take 2.6666 mill of that trade exception, and they'd have to throw in a few players. Other things of note-OO will NOT be available at 15. Boston (11) and Dallas (12) both are very interested in him. Dermarr has a very low chance of being available at #9. Najera would be a horrible pick at #38, as he shouldn't be picked till the late 40s or 50s. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
oo is my 9th pick ------------------ johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis. dan roan: why!!!!! johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.
uh, Dermarr won't be available at #15. There's a very small chance he's there at 9 ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
uhhh, well maybe i believe he will , i'm sorry i'm contradicting your belief , self proclaimed "draft god". ------------------ johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis. dan roan: why!!!!! johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.
Looks like we could have somethin similar to the heypartner-Sky Pilot fight startin up here. Better get the popcorn. ------------------ [This message has been edited by DaFranchise (edited June 12, 2000).]
While I sit back and watch this match... Double O with the #9? Is he really worth a lottery pick? Dermarr WILL be there at #9...probably not #15 though. Ding ding, round 2! Someone pass me some milk duds. ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
I would love to have Robinson. The Team played a lot better when Williams began to contribute at the 3 & 4. If we can consistently get 18ppg from Robinson then we should be strong in the playoffs. Big Dog has been somewhat of a character question so far but I like what I've seen from him this year and especially in the playoffs. This would leave our frontline shallow but if we could somehow get Croshere and a decent backup center then we should be fine. Our linep could be PG - SF/Moochie SG - SA/Cuttino SF - Big Dog/Rogers PF - Croshere/Kenny T C - Olajuwon/? A lot would have to work out for this lineup to happen, but it's not completely unrealistic. I doubt we would be able to keep our picks but it would be worth it. ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
just the facts from the Mock Drafts.....The Sporting News, ESPN and CNN/SI all have Johnson going 11th (to the Celtics) while CBS Sports has Johnson going 10th (to Orlando). Granted its pretty early to try and predict the draft, but if Johnson is around at the 15th I'll be suprised. ------------------
Dermarr had that fantastic Atlanta workout. Orlando also likes him. Cleveland likes him. Houston sure would like him. 6'9'' guys who are lights out on jump shoots, and have 40 inch verticals are of pretty high demand these. At worst, he'll slip to Boston at 11. That much I will guarantee. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
Brahma: Chris Monter said that Najera has to make it as a 3(his natural position) in order to make it in the NBA. He isn't a 4 and was playing out of place this year with OU. Monter said he has impressed at the Chicago camp and has improved his draft position to early second late first. Look for the Lakers to take him or Desmond Mason at 29. Chris also said Najera trimmed off about 10 lbs. since the Phoenix camp and looks pretty sharp right now on the court, plus he's healed up all those nagging leg injuries he had. If we get Najera at 38, consider him a steal. He would be a good backup to Walt or whoever we have at the 3. [This message has been edited by SooneRockStro (edited June 12, 2000).]
Sooner-Yeah, I heard that on Najera. Also heard he improved his range. I think I'll retract the Najera statement. I wouldn't say quite a steal, as I still don't believe he'll find his way into the first round, but not quite a reach. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
I think who we use the picks on is kinda arbitrary. Should the deal be done though? In my opinion....YES, especially if we get ervin johnson. Then we can talk about who we draft. Any combination of Moiso, Johnson, Miller, OO, Etan Thomas, maybe stevenson, the greek guy if he is still there, richardson, who knows. It would be exciting though! ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
I would not do that deal. Walt Williams has been hot in the last ten games of the season and Kelvin Cato was the Rockets only center in the last ten games of the season. That deal doesn't make sense. The Rockets need to keep Kelvin Cato and Walt Williams. ------------------
Man, it seems like this team gets a facelift every year now... All I really need from the Rockets is a quality pick up at the 3 position this summer, be it through the draft or through the trade exception. Trade Drew if you can, Cato if you must but lets not waste all the precious "chemistry" we built last season. I don't want to have had to suffer through that for nothing. ------------------ "Kick to the gut....The Stunner, The Stunner!!!!....Lights out for Austin Croshere!!!"
