Check this out: "I'm not playing in the Olympics," Hill said Thursday before a promotional appearance in Manhattan. "The doctors advised me not to, although I probably could have played. But I figured I'll get ready for training camp in October." One team that sounds appealing to Hill is the New York Knicks. "I've always enjoyed playing here in the city," Hill said. "But I haven't talked with anybody. You're not allowed to until July 1. "The idea of trying to help Patrick Ewing win a championship is appealing. I grew up a Ewing fan, watching him at Georgetown, wearing No. 33. I've always had a lot of respect for him, and I rooted for them in the playoffs This was just out from the AP. Why don't we have alot of money to have an all-star team. As muchas I hate the Knicks, who would be able to stop them. With G-Hill, Spree and Alan on the floor with LJ and Ewing, nobody matches this team. Not even the Fakers. Oops I meant tbe Lakers. ------------------
I'd be more worried if Hill signed with San Antonio. In order for anybody to beat the Lakers, they'll have to have lots of big athletic bodies to double down on Shaq and they'll have to have a PF that can dominate Green/Horry. The Knicks have neither of those things even if they did get Grant Hill. Now if you want to talk frightning, then think about Brian Grant signing with the Lakers. All LA needs is a PF that can play defense and rebound. ------------------
I wouldn't be too scared if he signed with San Antonio. You'd have two stars coming off major injuries, an aging Robinson, and who else? Jaren Jackson? Avery Johnson? Antonio Daniels? That being said, I don't want him to go there. Living in Austin, and having the local media cover only the story of the moment, it would get unbearable. ------------------ Get your proper swirve on...visit www.swirve.com (coming in mid-June, for now visit www.eesite.com)
Sean Elliott is saying that if Hill signs, then he'll most likely come back. Add in Samaki Walker, Terry Porter and Rose (if he's healed by then) and that's enough to make a run at a title. That's alot more talent than the Spurs had in their Championship season. What are they losing? Mario Elie? BTW, that aging David Robinson played pretty well in the playoffs last year. I don't believe that either LA or Portland would be too eager to meet up with a Duncan/Hill/Robinson/Elliott/Johnson lineup for a playoff series. ------------------
And the West gets stronger.... Pretty soon there will be no Eastern Conference. Maybe the NBA will make the East the "Developmental League" ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
I heard Alvin Gentry signed with the Spurs as an assistant coach. He was the coach in Detroit before getting fired earlier in the season, right? And if I remember correctly, the reason they fired him was because Grant didn't think the world of him, so the Pistons wanted to try and get someone who Grant liked better. So since Gentry is with the Spurs now does this help or hurt their chances of signing Hill??
If Grant Hill came to the Knicks, which I doubt he will, they will have to get rid of Spreewell or Houston. For one, Knicks would have to clear salary cap room to do it, and another reason is because of the offense. It's bad enough distributing the ball between Spree, Houston, LJ, and the supreme ball hog Ewing. It's just a bunch of talk. I remember Michael Jordan was quoted saying he wouldn't mind playing in New York for almost the same reason Grant Hill said when MJ was with the Bulls. At that time, the New York Fans and Media started talking about Jordan being a Knick. Well, we all know that didn't happen. ------------------ www.takeoutmusic.com- the future of independent music
