Off the top of my head, without looking it up, I want to say 4.56. It was somewhere in the 4.5's....good for a guy his size that is considered a "power back." This draft is nice in the sense that it is deep with big backs who can move pretty quick.
He ran a 4.53 and had a 38 inch vertical. The only question about Gerhart was his true speed and athleticism, I think he solified himself as a 2nd rounder.
Last year, I had a feeling and was right that the Texans were going to draft Brian Cushing. This year my feeling is the first player the Texans will take is DT, Dan Williams from Tennessee. Now this isn't the player who is tops on my list (Earl Thomas) but for some reason I think this is the guy we end up getting, whether it be at 20 or a trade back. He's been projected to us on many mocks and could be taken anywhere from where we select to the end of the first. I wouldn't mind seeing Kyle Wilson at 20 but the 2nd round is the stomping grounds for the cornerback class this year, and I think this is where we address that situation.
Williams is a run stuffing DT, and we need a pass rushing DT. Brian Price is the DT that fits that description. I believe we will take a RB in round one and a CB or DT in round 2 and 3. I like Kyle Wilson, but I don't think he'll be there at #20, so my guess is that we will take Ryan Matthews or maybe trade down..
I think we need both, but in my opinion a bigger tackle inside that can hold blockers like Williams, will serve better to free up Mario, Amobi, and Antonio. Price is an intriguing prospect though
We already have our pass rushing DT in Amobi, while he hasn't performed up to our expectations, that was his MO coming out of college. Like wally posted, we really need a big run stuffing DT that can eat blocks which will free up Mario and Amobi. I think we'll take Kyle Wilson if available at #20, if not, the Texans have shown they don't mind trading down if their guy isn't there.
good point. Also consider that Smith can be used as a pass rushing DT...if texans do go for DT, i'd imagine it would be a run stopped/space eater to help free up the others
If we go with a DT, I want him to be as fat as possible...the biggest, fattest mother effer...Im tired of the thought of a finesse DT. Get some meat in there and eat up some blocks.
Okay. I'm sold on RB Ryan Mathews over CJ Spiller or any RB in this draft. If you watch this video you can see his running style is an exact fit for what the Texans are looking for. He doesn't waste time juking in the backfield, he makes one cut and hits the hole extremely quick. Reminds me of how Terrell Davis ran in Denver, or even LT. If he's still there at 20 I think the Texans will get him without a doubt. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NsiEY7ilKcU&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NsiEY7ilKcU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Apparently they are high on him. I'd like to see the Texans trade down and take him later if he is the guy (and if Earl Thomas isn't there). Grab another 3rd round pick along with the trade, hopefully. I'm getting increasingly worried about the DT position. It doesn't seem that anybody worth taking is going to be there at 20, and there is a lot of talk of corners in the 2nd round.
Matthews is the best overall RB in the class, I think he's quite underrated. Not sure the Texans will take a RB in the 1st but I wouldn't be opposed to it at all. He had an excellent combine performance to go along with a ridiculously productive season.
As long as the Texans don't draft Tony Washington It would be...awkward. http://www.sportsfanlive.com/sflreports/entry/sportsfanlive_com_exclusive_lineman_s
Report: Sam Bradford gets 36 on Wonderlic; Tim Tebow 22 The heavily-guarded Wonderlic test scores from the NFL Scouting Combine have started to leak out. From the Twitter page of Palm Beach Post writer Edgar Thompson: Gators QB Tim Tebow scored a 22 on his Wonderlic, Jimmy Clausen 23, Colt McCoy 25 and Sam Bradford 36 out of 50, per NFL source. The Wonderlic, a timed, 50-question exercise, tests the aptitude of draft prospects. The official results of the tests are distributed by the NFL to the 32 teams after the combine, with scores occasionally leaking out. Other noteworthy QB scores that have been reported in the past: Ryan Fitzpatrick (Harvard) 49, QB Matthew Stafford (Georgia) 38, QB Mark Sanchez (28), Michael Vick (20) and Vince Young (15, after getting a 6 on first attempt). http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/n...1-report-bradford-scores-36-on-wonderlic-test
Supposedly wonderlic for QBs translates to how well you can learn the playbook, but the highest scores overall are usually from the O line. But I can't really believe that VY scored a 6 on it, when it's been stated that a sub 10 is basically illiteracy.
