Yes, that's the way I see it also. However, take a look at the Spurs schedule. The Spurs have a very tough schedule and they really don't look that good to me this year. I think the Rockets could possibly pass the Spurs, but they will need to get to the 46-48 win mark to have a chance, and that will be tough.
Obviously it's possible, but perhaps we're only 2 games back in the LOSS column, not 4. Maybe Spurs resting Duncan will get them a few losses. We still have a chance I would like to believe...
as previously mentioned, the Rockets are only two losses behind Portland currently. their head to head is 2-2. so the Blazers at 36-27, lets say they go 9-10 to get to 45-37. at 30-29, the Rockets would only have to go 15-8 to reach 45-37. the next tiebreaker would be determined by Conference Record, with Portland currently ahead by two games.(23-14 to 22-17)
The Rockets' chances of getting to the playoffs are slim... but after a 6 gm win streak here, another 5 gm win streak there... it's possible.
So you're saying there's a chance! Never underestimate the heart of a 2nd round playoff team. I have and will always be 100% against tanking. To me tanking is like an entire franchise flopping on the court all at once with no one even close to touching them. But if we miss the playoffs and secure lottery position, i'm good with that. Whatever happens from this point, the season has been a success overall.
I really want the Rockets to make the playoffs, but the reality is the top 8 teams in the West are just BETTER than us. They have allstars and we don't. They may lose some games here and there, but I just don't see any of those teams going on some massive losing streak where we will make it in. The Rockets best chance of making a push was when we had all those home games against mediocre teams and everyone was talking about "home-cooking." Well the Rockets lost most of those games and continued on a downward spiral. They shot themselves in the foot and it is most likely too late. Right now it's just about salvaging the season and letting guys develop their game.
lol @ posters thinking OKC is going to drop. If anything, I see OKC, at best, rising to the fourth seed, and at worst, falling to the 7th. They're gonna make it.
This is correctomundo. When the Rockets needed to "make hay," they stumbled and bumbled. Game, set, match. Frankly, I think they ran out of gas. Martin and Brooks, if they stay hot, could make it somewhat interesting, but I am looking to the lotto. Too little, too late.
This. There is too much pride in that locker room right now, to have a starting 5 of Conroy Taylor Budinger Hill Armstrong but at the same time, our guys know they can't legitamately challenge the LA Kobes, the Dirkus Mavericks, or the Cleveland CavaLebrons. I'm still watching though.
Okay I guess. I'm not sure how that changes things. Portland's better than a .500 team, and they're more likely to beat a playoff team than lose to a bad team. While the Rockets chances of going 15-8 is slim to none. You're basically implying that the Rockets chances just went up from like 1% to 2%.
