It's spoiled talk to say how we got Yao Ming but we'd rather have Dwight Howard or stuff like that. A Deke type would mesh "easier", but you can't say better when you haven't even seen them try it yet with this roster.
Lol 1 game we lose by 30 and Rockets are done, AB and KM can't work. We win 1 game and magically AB and KM can work and we don't need Yao next year..... Yes guys we are top 5 team in this league and we just beat Cleveland and the Lakers by 50................... Talk about over reaction. If anybody can predict the future let me know what the lottery numbers will be tomorrow.
we went u to 9th place with a win here and a memhis loss... on the bad side it wass the 8th seeded ortland beating memhis so they got a win.
The Show Time Lakers were a running team with Jabbar & he definately didn't run the court regularly. In a playoff game with the Pistons, the Lakers had crossed midcourt(except Jabbar) & made a couple of passes when an "illegal defense" was called on the Pistons. The reason was that no Piston was guarding Jabbar who was still hadn't crossed midcourt. On a running team, not everyone sprints down the floor at the same time. One guy will break downcourt when the shot is taken. The rebounder passes the ball up court. Sometimes that results in a Brooks half court pass to Scola for a layup. When Yao comes back, the offense & Yao will adjust to each other. That's what training camp is for. It's gonna be a fun season next year!
There is more to it than just offense. I think there was a reason we had one of the best defenses in the league, Yao. It is nice to have such a big man in the middle. And if im not mistaken, our team has been scoring most of it's points in the half court set anyways. Running guys off picks and giving Scola/Anderson touches on the low post. I guess were not watching the same game.
Yep, all we need now, is for Wafer not to get signed to a full season contract with the griz and we sign him.
I don't think we really need Wafer anymore now that we have Martin, Budinger, Battier, and Ariza on the wings. We're all full up.
This. And the combo of Martin and Brooks may not even get the Rockets to the playoffs. Besides, how many rings has Adelman's system won? This is not saying that it is not an excellent system. I personally admire and like Adelman's system and coaching style. But to have Yao in the lineup and not utilize his overwhelming impact in favor of the run and gun combo would really be utterly incredible. I think Adelman is much smarter than that.
You act like the Rockets are a top team right now. I have news for you, they're not. The are one game above 500. I can't believe you actually said the Rockets are better without Yao. What was the Rockets record with Yao last year?
True, but not CF specific. You give 100 microphones to a group of 100 people, someone WILL say something stupid or tautological. (had to use my new word of the day-thanks to the CFfan who first used it the other day...I forget who, but it made me look it up: needless repetition of the same sense in different words; redundancy) And if you give those 100 people the idea that they can change the world, you have our government. just saying
People are actually trying to make a logical argument that the Rockets are better off without their best player. I really don't understand why more people don't find this the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard, because it sure is for me. We're defending YAO MING to Rockets "fans"...hello? Just amazing. Gone six months and it's like the 7-time all star was never here. Such loyalty.
Even when he first came over to play for the Rockets he wasn't near 260. As I recall, it was more around 290, but he was much quicker at that weight, "quicker" being a relative term, obviously. Hey, I can't wait for the big guy to come back. Adelman will figure out how to integrate him into the current cast of characters, and effectively. Might take a while, but it'll happen. I really, really hope they take their time, limit his minutes, bring him along slowly, and save him for the playoffs next year, when it becomes more of a halfcourt game and Yao will be huge, figuratively as well as physically. As for the game, I just finished watching the first 5-6 minutes of the first period again, when the Rockets got off to a seamless start, racing to a big lead, and I was waiting, and waiting, for the Raptors' Jay Triano to call a timeout. He waited too long, although it probably wouldn't have mattered in the long run. A couple of thoughts... Were the Raptors that bad, or were we that good? The answer is that it was a perfect storm of lose for Toronto. At the beginning of the game, everyone for the Rocks were on the same page, passing the ball, drilling their shots, playing excellent defense, and the Raptors were put back on their heels. Hayes, Scola, and Brooks were notable for getting us off to that fast start. In less than 5 minutes, we scored 22 points, with Chuck collecting 4 assists as Scola hit a variety of shots from inside and outside, Battier and Martin nailed 3's, and Brooks sizzled from the get-go. The defense completely disrupted the Toronto offense. Shane should get sick more often, if this is how he plays after missing a game and playing while feeling like crap. His defense was outstanding. When Chuck wasn't doing his version of Jason Kidd, he was playing crazy D himself. Even Brooks and Scola were solid, with only Kevin still showing signs of still being a bit lost out there on defense. OK, maybe more than a bit. But again, was it Houston firing on all cylinders, or Toronto simply being that bad? Toronto's defense looked like that gizmo I drain my spaghetti... full of holes. With Houston's offense operating at a high level (we made our first 11 shots, I think), they took full advantage and never looked back. And that was in the first 5 minutes. I'm going to watch the rest of it as I get a chance. It surprised me to find out during the course of the game last night that Martin scored as much as he did. For some reason, at least for me, his scoring wasn't as noticeable. It just added up. Maybe because he makes it look so easy. Anyway, a fun victory, for sure. Fun and another game that brings hope for the future. Yes, the Raptors were without Bosh and Calderon, but we were without Yao, Lowry, and Ariza. I have to control myself. It's not hard to get too excited about the future. Might have to pick up some new shades.
