We've seen a lot of great back courts as Rockets fans, but only rarely have we been treated with two big-time scorers as mostly our back courts have featured a perennial all-star with a role-player.

So I thought it would be fun to think were this duo will rank (offensive production only)

I expect it to settle in the 48 pt range at some point.

I am sure you have noticed Lou, but AB is not working NEARLY as hard now that Kevin is here.

They are both setting each other up for some WIDE open looks.

It is a thing of beauty....now add in Yao Ming, and maybe a shot blocking PF that can shoot the 3ball and ....Championship contender baby !!

Things are looking up in H-town for next season.

Teams can't trap and pay as much attention to AB as they used to, and Martin is a ebast on the break.

What team has the best scoring backcourt in the game right now?

I dunno but I think Golden State?

Martin and Brooks are really up there though.

If you mean combined PG + SG ppg...only ellis/curry would be close I believe. Other than that, if you look at the people scoring near Kevin and near Brooks, there aren't many on the same team.

I think 48 is a bit high when you throw in Yao Ming who not only will take up a lot of possessions but will slow the offense down overall. Especially since we'll move to a more defensive schema next season.

Yes, Brooks is having more fun, Martin adds a new dimension and he doesn't dominate the ball so he works a lot better in Adelman's system. So far so good.

I seriously doubt adding Yao with 2 defensive liabilities in Brooks/Martin equals championship. They do look great on offense but that's about it. Also we need another all star or superstar at the PF position to really start talking about championships again, oh yea did I mention their both injury prone? Wishful thinking at best...

I expect Brook's scoring to be reduced when Yao returns. He won't be taking nearly as many shots when we have all of our guys back.

    SF3 and Cat's best season was 43.

If Brooks puts up 20 ppg and Martin can crack 24 that would make them the most prolific Rockets backcourt in history.

Brooks+Martin have to be better than SF3+Cat. If not, the rockets won't be a contender. Yao+SF3+Cat didn't work out. Will Yao+Martin+Brooks make the rockets a contender?

I don't think it will be reduced because he is still improving as a player, and Yao won't get too many minutes. I think both Brooks and Martin are going to settle around 25ppg, maybe a little less.

Looking great so far, but I want to see how they do when teams really puts the defensive pressure on them. That's the real test of whether a one-two punch is effective IMO.

Who voted for "less than 25ppg"? Martin may average more than that all by himself next season.

Maybe it was one of those "perfect storm of stupid" guys who hates both Brooks and Martin and thinks Lowry and Landry are better than both.

Well, even at 45, that would be one of the most prolific back courts in NBA history.

I can only think of a few...

Kobe when he had 35ppg that one season. Think the backcourt would be 47 ppg
Michael Jordan when he had 37 - with Paxon that made 48 ppg

So I mean, 43 ppg will definitely lead the league. 49 might be the most prolific backcourt in NBA history. Just something to keep in mind.
