What if Kobe overtook Shaq for the most dominant player in the league, and the raptors went back to being the worst team in the league. Carter wants out.

Would you trade O'neal for Carter?

Carter is so incredibly overrated. He's a highlight reel....and what else? Mediocre, if not poor defense, choked in playoffs, not a great passer. He's a franchise player, but to even be mentioned on the pedestal with Shaq is a felony. So now, Lakers would have Kobe/Carter at the wings, uh....Derek Fisher at PG (Harper's long gone), Devean George at PF (AC Green retires), and hmm.....Travis Knight at center? Carter may be good, and I'd love to have him, but no he's not gonna be Jordan, and no he's not worth Shaq.

BTW--I have a totally new respect for Kobe. The way he took over in overtime was phenomenal, that was simply incredible.

As much as I hate Shaq, Carter is overrated and plays hardly any or no defense. He isn't as clutch as people make him out to be. He isn't worth Shaq, who is a very dominant player in the post, free throws or no free throws.

Nike- I agree. What Kobe did for his team in overtime and what Reggie did for his in the 4th quarter were two great clutch performances that I will always remember. But like you said, I respect Kobe a little more now. I knew Reggie could step up and do it- I just didn't know about Kobe. But he proved last night he is capable.

I agree. Kobe got indoctrinated into the league when Chris Childs went upside his head. Then last night I saw Kobe become the one thing teams around the league fear most, a clutch performer. This is when legends are made and Kobe has begun to write his mane. Although Vince has game, T-Mac was the player that carried them offensively during the playoffs. Even with NY double-teaming him. Vince has to prove he can come through in the playoffs. Regu;ar season is just that, regular. But the playoffs are special.

Kobe Bryant plan and simple is unbelievable. I have always been a big Kobe fan and if he was on another team where he would be taking most of the shots he would be putting up Jordan-like numbers. His grasp for the game and his strive to excel is remarkable for being only 21. There will never be another Jordan but Kobe will come damn close.

Kobe might be a good player, but he is NO MJ!

I like what Kobe can bring to the court with his quickness and athleticism, but he is prone to making bad decisions for streches and tries too hard to take over the game at times. If he learns to settle down and play within the flow of the game, he will get better, but still won't be close to MJ.

I don't think Vince is overrated. He has the skills, but needs to learn how to harness them and, like Kobe, make better decisions.

They both need to trust their teammates more during the game, then dominate at the end.

While we're on the subject of Kobe, did anyone read Fran Blinebury's column today?

    "Move over, Michael."!?!?!?!

What the hell is that? Don't get me wrong, Kobe is a fantastic basketball player, but don't even start comparing him to Michael Jordan. Michael never had that Shaq guy on his team.

Boy, Fran is taking it to new levels.

It's too early to say whether Kobe will be the next Jordan or not. He's got almost the same exact game that JOrdan had. REmember, when Jordan was young, he also made a lot of bad decisions, and he was given the ball all the time also.

Kobe's decision making will improve, and that's really all he needs to do in order to... be the next JOrdan.

And a better fadeway wouldnt hurt either.

Kobe actually said today that his game was very different from MJ's... I'm not so sure. Personally, I think Kobe has Jordan-like talents, but we have yet to see if he'll ever develop. Let's not forget that Jordan was the hardest working player in the league.

I agree about Vince... his defense is close to execrable. I think Kobe would be putting up better numbers than Vince if he were on the Raptors... while playing better D.
