Did four of their starters play 45 minutes last night? Do they have three guys out with injuries/illness? (Four if you include Yao.)
A Brooks-Martin back court is good for offense but bad for defense, especially when you don't have Battier covering for you.
Well, again, this isn't a normal night. Normally we will have Battier, Ariza, and Lowry, not to mention Yao next year plugging the paint. Plus did you see how many minutes Brooks and Martin played last night? Can you imagine how their legs must feel right now, it's hard to play good active defense in that state.
We miss our 3 better defensive wings: Kyle, Trevor, Shane. Ok. But whats up inside, we give the same -poor- level... And we're talking about Scola, Andersen, Hayes and Jeffries(yes, they too). So why don't give a chance to Hill/Armstrong, more athletic players, able to play more physical, annoy and intimidate something?
Its too bad we cant seem to strike a balance between the horrid offense of Battriza and the horrid defense of Martinger...
They should get rid of Anderson next year...dude sucks!! What gives him the right to shoot wide open jump shots anyway?? Every time i see him shoot, he keeps missing. He is like Chuck Hayes and should not be giving the right to shoot....he's hurting the team imo.
Besides the lack of defense, a lot of positives so far. Martin is shooting in great rhythm, Brooks is playing with energy, Temple and Taylor helping to compensate for absence of Ariza and Battier. Just need to keep it up and hope the Jazz cool off. Oh, and Andersen's got to shake off the mistakes, find his inner Hakeem and get fokahssed. These guys are unlistenable. That one guy kept whining about how Martin initiated contact to draw the foul on Williams, when Williams did the exact same thing on Brooks in the 1Q.
I keep seeing people say that brooks and martin's jobs are just to score and battriza will pick up the defense. That line of thinking is lame because they can't all of a sudden guard the whole opposing team.
In that sense, should we play the players who could play D and score at the same time? At the end of day, a win is a win, a lost is a lost, no excuse...
I'm not making excuses for him but he does look like he's rushing his shots. With Lowry out, he might not be getting the ball where he wants.
Aw, I was out eating and the score looked good when we left, but I guess it took a turn for the worse.
