just a assumption... would anyone consider having cat and steve swapping positions... i mean cat played pg coming out of college... and steve played the 2 in college.... i know steve would not match up defensively... and cat cant pass.. but in case of a situation late in the game....

Based on defensive or offensive matchups, of course teams are going to work to their strengths - so if it means Cat brings the ball up the court while Francis runs off of screens, or if Cat guards the point guard while Francis guards a better player in the team's shooting guard, then it happens. It's not really a new idea, the situational deal.

As for longer stretches: it's more than likely counterproductive. You play your weaknesses to the other team in that way and start losing games.

Cat can't play point guard. He's a natural two.

Why would you take the best point guard in the league, and move him to another position? If you want to move someone, I say let's start by moving Cato to the bench..

I don't understand Roc Paint. What makes Steve Francis the best PG in the league? He hasn't proven anything yet. Why move Cato to the bench? Him and MoT are the hardest working Rockets this offseason, and Ming isn't ready to start anyway.

What I'd like to see is Francis playing ni the backcourt with someone like Jamaal Crawford. I'm not too sure how effective a short backcourt will be.

what we need is a sf that can distribute the ball...a point foward.

but where can we get one from?

Roc Paint:- What makes The Franchise the best point guard in the league? We know he is flashy and has great 'potential'but we also see that he is very poor at guarding his man. His defense must be brought up a notch and he must distribute the ball more to the open man( he needs to get at least 9 assists to be called the best PG),don't you think?

Smoothie:- Incase you havent noticed thats what a Point Guard is supposed to do! At the Lottery SF. said we dont need a Point Guard, so does this mean he IS going to turn over a new leaf and perform the duties of Point Guard as opposed to trying to be the main offensive force? He cant do both on this NEW Rox Team,we have too many good scorers demanding thir chance to score!

Because the best point guard in the league is an even better shooting guard! :D

I think Francis does great at either position and probably would make a fair, if undersized, small forward as well. The only problem is that Cat is not well-suited to the PG spot. The ideal situation with the roster we got is the system already in place: Francis at PG, Cat at SG, with Francis sliding to SG and Norris coming off the bench to play PG. Imo, this is a great system that gives 3 talented guards good minutes and never lets up much on the scoring punch of the backcourt. I don't understand why so many people want to change it. I think the only thing we lack is a small forward who can swing to shooting guard so that we can go big as well as we can go small.

(Btw, it is amazing to what extent fans will fall over themselves for height. Jamal Crawford is a tall PG, but he's been injured most of his career and hasn't really done fantastic things with the time he's been healthy. I tend to think Mo Taylor isn't tradeable because of his injury, but he's at least shown himself to be a good player.)

Our pg position is fine the way it is. We have one of the most talented scorers and atheletes in the league at the position who has converted from being a two in college to being a pretty good distributor in the league while still scoring. What's wrong with having one of your best scorers at the 1 as long as he keeps everyone happy. Gary Payton can do it.

Steve can't even guard point guards, what would the big athletic twos of the league do to him?

Let trade Moochie, Rice and Cato for Payton. Move Francis to SG. Let Cat come off the bench. All problems solved.

If Cat was moved to pg and was in charge of getting all the other players involved half of this board would have an instant heart attack.

I'd rather have Steve guarding pg's like Payton, Marbury and Baron Davis than Moochie.

All of you Francis hatters can kiss my ass. Give me a healthy Francis for a full season, and I will show you the best point guard in the league. Some of you people around here make me sick.

Hey Roc Paint, you said everything that I was getting ready to say; Francis is the best point guard in the League, and those of you that don't think so maybe you should be on ride Kidd nuts.com or any other pointguard which you think is better.
