What is your favorite gameshow?? I was flipping through the channels and saw an old favorite, "Press Your Luck". I always loved that show, especially with the way people would act so goofy on there and the whammies. I also enjoyed "Sale of the Century". You could really "clean up" in that game if you were good!
I like beat the geeks right now. kinda cheesy, but I don't think there are any game shows that are cheese free(well, mebbe jeopardy ) the whammy show was cool.
I used to like Classic Concentration way back in the day, and Family Feud before they got that fat, slovenly host with the annoying voice. Nowadays, the Price is Right is the only one I watch, and sporadically at that.
Even though I don't watch it very often, I have to say Jeopardy. I just wish everything wasn't so formal.
Crap! Thanks, WhiteMagic02 for reminding me about Jeopardy!! That was my favorite gameshow for a long time, but I haven't watched in such a long time that I completely forgot about it. Oh and Alex Trebek is an ass to say the least.
Anything on the Game Show Network but Tattletales. I like Beat the Clock (they're bringing that back, btw) and Match Game best of those. But nothing these days can top Jeopardy and the Price is Right. Someone mentioned Plinko, and I have to agree - that's the best game on that show. Too bad it's on at 11am.
Jeopardy hands down. My friends and I have a debate going: I think that Alex Trebek is actually smart...like really smart. My friends just think he reads off the cards. He's gotta be like a super-genius, right?
WHAMMY WHAMMY WHAMMY! Man Press Your Luck ruled the world! Some guy actually made a pretty good PC version of that game thats up for free downloads somewhere on the net.
I recently saw a rerun of "Three's a Crowd" from the late seventies. It had a similar format to the "Newlywed Game", but it featured a husband, his wife and his secretary. They'd ask really personal questions in order to find out who new the man better -- his wife or his secretary. It was just about the most jaw-droppingly sexist thing I've ever seen. Sadly, it was often fairly obvious that the husbands were quite chummy with their secretaries. Not my favorite gameshow, but certainly one of the more interesting ones.
Family Feud, my uncle and his family were on the show once, they got spanked, big time I also like this game called lightning, when I was a kid. that one game where people had to figure out riddles that were depicted by pictures. . . . I dont know what it was called but it really left a lasting impression on me
MTV's Original Game Show - REMOTE CONTROL The Price is Right - because of that Mountain Climber game that yodelled and that Big Wheel they spun at halftime!! The $20,000 Pyramid Wheel of Fortune Groucho's, You Bet Your Life - I saw re-runs that were pretty good. The Newlywed Game - Bob Eubanks would say "make whoopie" in reference to sex.
Game Show Network actually brought that show back recently, with Alan Thicke as the host. It has a late-night time slot, so that gives you some indicator of its quality. Whenever I've seen it, it's usually two guys (a relative plus a boyfriend, or an ex-boyfriend and a current boyfriend) along with a girl going back and forth with questions. The Newlywed Game was a much better form of that type of show, I must say. The worst? Tattletales, also from the 70s. It featured celebrity couples going at it in a format very similar to that of The Newlywed Game, yet that wasn't the worst part of it. The host and color scheme were awful!
I think you're thinking of Classic Concentration, a game show hosted by Alex Trebek in the mid-to-late 80s. This site might help refresh your memory, if in fact that's the show you're thinking of: http://www.geocities.com/classicconcentration/ There used to be an old game based off of that, as well as one based off of another game show called High Rollers, for the original Apple II clones....man, those were the days!
Anybody remember "Password?" I used to race home from the 3rd grade to catch "The Match Game." Of the current ones, I sometimes watch "Jeopardy" or "Wheel of Fortune."
defintely Jeopardy... I always wanted to be on the college tournament competition, but i never got the necessary information to try out! i used to love Wheel of fortune as a little kid, but as i grew older, it just got boring I used to watch Press Your Luck in elementary school (during summer vacation) and LOVED it! i don't watch any game shows anymore, finally got tired of them i guess.
Anyone remember the cheesy gameshow, "I'm Telling"?? It came on Saturday mornings on NBC and featured brother and sister answering questions about each other. It was sorta like the Newlywed game. It was decent but cheesy.
dude, i remember that! man, with this and the NES game thread, you guys are uncovering memories LONG FORGOTTEN!!!! thanks!
