True, but so far as a rocket his shooting has been rather unimpressive. If thats the best aspect of his game I expect it to be there night in and night out. Atleast when mcgrady was off he knew how to get team mates involved.

Yeah, I know. He imposed his will on the games and won us playoff series. BTW, that is sarcasm also.

Atleast we got to the playoffs. This team right now shares a similar record to teams like memphis, new orleans, etc. Rebuilding teams. We better hope that Yao has a huge impact next season beause were supposed to be contending for the title right now.

From now on, all comments from me in this thread will deal with Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks not passing the ball. No more McGrady.

Yao/Brooks also did not work well. Brooks just cannot pass the ball to the right place at the right time.
With Yao comes back next year, we need a capable PG to run the team and pass the ball to Yao and Martin

We have one. His name is Kyle Lowry - and now that we've added Martin, I expect he'll steal the starting job away from Brooks very soon.

I'd also add that I won't be surprised in the slightest to see Brooks moved in the offseason as part of the deal to bring in a big name free agent in a sign and trade. They have Llull waiting in the weeds and they seem to like Will Conroy too. And that's before the draft. Who knows who we'll end up picking up there. (of course, the lottery pick is likely to be included in the deal for the big name free agent in sign and trade)

No one on the rockets roster (other than the injured Lowry) is really known for their playmaking abilities or court vision.

    Expect to see this often.

Seriously tho, it was Martin who got us back into the game. With 3.5 mins left, it is a 9-point game and Martin does not touch the ball once. He wasn't shooting great, but he was getting to the line, getting the team points.

However, does give me hope for the future. Once Lowry gets back, Ariza gets back, maybe this team could make a late push.

Too bad Adelman will never change the starting lineup.

im starting to think the wrist injury Martin had has affected his shooting! He didnt shoot well this year either when he was with the Kings.

You can't compare Tmac and Martin like that. Tmac controlled the ball, so when he felt confident on his shots, he could take over.

In the Rockets game today, Martin was heating up but Brooks controls the ball and didn't feed Martin.

that's the thing about shooting, you work yourself into a rythm when you're in a new team, new arena, new offense. If you can pass the ball then obviously you just go out and do it, like tmac would., but that's why tmac made 20 mill and martin makes half of that. i wish they would stop comparing one to the other, it's clear martin wasnt, isnt, and will never be what tmac was at one point. I'm sure the team isn't expecting that and didnt get him for that reason. He's a smaller piece than a tmac was, but bigger than these role guys and semi-stars (scola/landry) are. You can't put all your egss in one basket anymore in the NBA. An olajuwon surrounded by role guys isnt enough. Even a drexler and olajuwon. Now you need a few guys. We got martin, Yao, brooks, and i'm sure Morey has something planned this summer. He's either going to trade some of the other pieces for a big piece or add another significant player. then e'll have multiple options, no more lottery just because one guy went down and less wear and tear on our players because we wont be overworking one or two.

Brooks was by far the best player on the floor tonight. But ok, blame him for the loss and why Martin was awful for the first 2 and a half quarters. I just dont like excuse making for poor play. Thats three games in a row Martin has had a negative impact on the game. We just traded Landry and a valuable contract asset(player will remain nameless) to pick him up. I just expect better and we all should.

I am actually pretty worried about the AB/Martin backcourt. Brooks had a nice game but had 5 TOs and shot 9-22. When Martin took over they stopped passing him the ball and the PGs job is to find the hot guy.

You don't think maybe he will consider it once he sees how good a Lowry/Martin backcourt could be? Brooks can be a great spark off the bench guy, and Lowry can be a smart starting PG. We needed Brooks in the starting lineup for scoring (guy who can create his own shot, who gain respect of defenses drawing opportunities for teammates), but now Martin provides just that.

Why pass him the ball? He spent the whole night passing up open jumpers by immediately passing himself. He only started penetrating when the game was nearly over. We inherited four players with loser mentalities from being stuck for too long on loser teams. It's easy to accept losing when you're used to it.

    THREE GAMES!!! THREE f'ing games!

McGrady had 4 seasons and he never led us out of the first round. You can't compare 4 seasons worth of playing to THREE GAMES.

and i dont think aaron is freezing him out, he just needs time to get used ot it, before his options were ariza and battier, not anymore. He's really playing like he's been for over a month, with a lot of confidence and without the hesitation he used to have all the time. I dont think i want him losing that, he just needs to get used to have martin around to know where he can get him the ball and when.
