Connie Hawkins... "It is a tribute to Hawkins' mythic game that he could wind up on this list despite not entering the NBA until age 27. The Hawk averaged 25.4 points, 13.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists in Phoenix's seven-game ouster by the Lakers in 1970, but was a role player (10.8 points, 8.0 rebounds) four years later with the Lakers when they fell in five to Milwaukee."
At this point, T-mac is a questionable hall-of-famer. It all depends on how his career ends up. But to answer your question, I don't know which team he will represent
i disagree. i think you may think that because there are smaller teams in the nba. and more of the top tier players make it then teams that field 40 guys.
If MerGady retires from the NBA now, he might still have a chance of making it on the CBA hall of fame. Maybe Yao will pick him up on a max contract there equivalent to about $5 mil USD over 5 years. Followed by a possible bonus of a knee brace after he retires.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. T-Mac in the Hall? Why? For winning a Championship? Playoff success? Sticking to one team his entire career? MVP? Multiple scoring titles?
i think the rockets simpily because he spent 5 years not counting 09-10, and 4 years with the magic. with his domination in the playoffs, dunk on bradely,13 in 35, must be with houston.
He's not a hall of famer by any means.. but if he was to be recognized in one team it'll be Orlando. That's where he made his name and where he was truly dominant. I'd say Houston was where his body broke down and MerGady went into a sharp decline. Sure his first 2 seasons were pretty good, but the latter years in Houston was nothing but a taint in his name, which he still carries till this day. As a whole I think MerGady's stint in Houston was a failure. Sure he did those amazing things, but all in all, he didn't really accomplish anything here. At least in Orlando he got those scoring champion titles.
There is a difference between winning a championship and having some playoff success. McGrady has never won a single series. Charles Barkley never won a championship, but led his team to the Finals once and got out of the first round of the playoffs many times.
Stackhouse never won a scoring title. http://www.nbauniverse.com/awards/nba_scoring_leader_year.htm My question is this - how do you make it into the hall of fame when not a single team you played with even retired your jersey?
I hope to God this doesn't happen. The HOF already has a bad rep, they don't need MerGady's name to taint it even more. However I am curious as to what kind of an acceptance speech he'd make if he were to be inducted. Probably blow Jordan's or everyone else out of the water. I can imagine the word "willed" to be thrown around generously.
He won multiple scoring titles? I thought he only won one. Winning a championship is different than some playoff success. Never getting out of the first round is sad. If a HOF'er hasn't won an MVP, they're in for the other reasons McGrady wouldn't be able to get in for.
Some of us "NON-HOFers". . . we ALWAYS made it to the second round . . <insert Clyde Laugh> Sincerely, Rocket River
He's saying T-Mac has #5 (on the list), which was multiple scoring titles. Not that he has five scoring titles.
