What you ask, how can that be? His agent says he still wants to play for them. HOGWASH !! I say.

Why opt out of the final 3-4 years of a roughly 10 million dollar a year contract to become a Free Agent, if you want to play for the same team. I don't see the Blazers paying him more, and I don't see any other team able to offer that much money.

I think B. Grant is out of Portland, and he is just being polite.

    Comments, Thoughts?

If Brian Grant is leaving Portland (like NBATalk suggests), he could be expressing his desire to resign with Portland as a device to keep his price from falling with other teams; i.e., they'll think they have to start at $10 million to be competitive with Portland's offer. Of course, if it is a bluff as transparent as it looks to me, every GM in the league will see through it. It is also possible that he has been promised by deeppocketed Portland to be paid more than he's worth. In any case, I think it is unlikely he'll be coming to Houston.

The Blazers frontline would take a gigantic hit if they lose both Brian Grant and Jermaine O'Neal. Alteast for O'Neal they will get something in return, but who knows if they will be able to pull off a good sign and trade for Grant. Now that Grant is opting out, all the Tracy McGrady rumors and such dont work anymore as a sign and trade cannot involve two free agents. The Blazers will either have to find some players already under contract to sign and trade for, somehow hope Grant comes back to them or just lose him for nothing. I have a strange feeling the Orlando Magic are going to make a play for Grant, Doc Rivers loves those types of hard working players.

As far as the Rockets go, I would have no problem trading the #9 pick for Grant.

Grant is WAY overpaid and overrated!! Why trade away our best hope of getting a young potential star(ter) and give a guy of Cato's calibur $10 million a year when half of so many people are b****ing about the money the Rockets are paying Cato??

Thankfully we can't make that trade anyhow.
