I've owned Danes my whole life and this is HUGE, even for them.

Guinness Announces World’s Tallest Dog Ever

Size does not matter. Just ask George. Guinness World Records has just declared him the Tallest Living Dog and the Tallest Dog Ever.

These new titles clearly will not stop this Great Dane (Greatest Dane?) from trying to be a lap dog.

“Great Danes are inherently lapdogs. He really thinks he’s a tiny dog and wants to sit on your lap all the time. He wants to be right with you,” owner David Nasser told AP.

The 245-pound, 4-year-old guy is 43 inches from paw to shoulder, and seven feet and three inches from head tail, according to Guinness stats.

According to USA Today, Guinness is currently searching for pet owners who think they might have record-breaking animals in the following categories: Dog with Longest Ears, Smallest Dog (Length), Oldest Dog, Smallest Cat and Oldest Cat. You can submit a proposal via http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com.

My wife used to work in a vet clinic, so I've interacted with just about every breed you can think of. Every single Great Dane that came through there had just about the sweetest temperament you could imagine. They are (no pun intended) great dogs, provided you have enough room for them. This guy looks like no exception. A 245 lapdog! Oy vey!

Great dogs but having to deal with the heart problems would scare me away. I love big dogs. I can't stand toy (little) dogs.

Not healthy for his feet. Might result in a hairline fracture if he runs or jumps too much. Probably should not be walking or running for more than 20-30 mins at a time.

what a monster. I wish they had a better pick of someone standing up next to it to see a real size comparisons.

I grew up with great danes and they are fantastic dogs, provided you have a lot of space (we had a few acres). Unfortunately, they do have a shorter life span and joint problems as they get older.

    Huge dog.

Keep your Great Danes. I prefer something a bit more reasonable in size with better health and working ability but if novelty is your thing then they are great dogs. The one I had as a kid was very sweet with the family but as with many Danes, his health dropped like a rock at age 7 and he was dead by 8.

I wouldn't want a dog that big, but big dogs are a lot better than those annoying little dogs.
