Personally, I just hate the comparison because I've always found CZJ to be hotter than Jolie in general. But that's just me.

Anyway, T-Mac's simply no longer capable of defense. At least Martin can help if he puts his mind to it.

The Battier of 2-3 years ago was a legit DPOY candidate while the Battier now is Ryan Bowen playing his best game.

Problem is he is lazy, unmotivated, or injured most of the time.

The main difference, I believe is having a big shot blocker protecting the paint. It's a lot easier to look good when you funnel your man into help and that help is 7'6'' or 7'2'' multi-time DPOY.

I will admit everyone's defense seems to be worse this year, and not just Shane's, due to the reason you've stated.

At least T-Mac CAN play D when he wants to. Kevin Martin is better at steals I think.

yes we have all seen TMAC play defense. For instance on Dirk in the playoffs. But what we are talking about is what do they deliver? Martin gets burned and walks away from plays on his own. I doubt he ever gets dunked on for instance.

    Today's T-Mac loses horribly.

T-Mac in his prime would completely shut down Kevin Martin if he tried. But he no longer has the speed to keep up with his man.

T-Mac can get a coupla stops because of his Bball IQ but he's just too slow and doesn't put in enough effort to counter his slowness

I think I've seen Mcgrady attempt to play defense for about 10 total possessions this season.

Martin is still such a poor defender that the difference is negligible.

Who's the better offensive player RIGHT NOW Allan Houston or Trevor Ariza?

    Crap i voted wrong too.

I think Kevin Martin gets the edge over Tmac NOW.

Back in the days, Tmac could play really good defense. Now after the injuries and surgeries, he can't play good defense.

Effort does count for a friggin' lot. Martin gives up some physicality, but gives an 'average NBA player' effort and so is just a little below average. McGrady doesn't worry about defense. That's all.

I agree. Also, I do not see why the Rockets can't imitate that by at least giving minutes to someone who plays center. Jordan Hill, Armstrong?

The players on the floor cannot block shots. There is absolutely NO presence in the middle. Yes, Chuck has done a good job but that type of play will not succeed. I know his hard nose defense is helping us but really. A charge is not a blocked shot. Offenses will not shy away from driving the lane when someone is taking a hit. While offenses can easily go around the charge a blocked shot is more intimidating and offenses are changed because of it.
Adelman has failed to see this, they did not play Joey enough.

If we do not get a shot blocker out there teams will just run it up our guts like they have been. This problem can easily be solved by playing someone that has the ability to block shots and give him that job. This is why Mutombo was so useful for us in the playoffs once Yao went out we had another shot blocker out there clogging up the lane.

But I am not Adelman and I have no idea how far Hill is these are just my 2 cents.

Its kind of sad we are comparing kmart to a injured tmac.

Kmartin is a bad defender from all the times I have seen him play.

This trade just won't end well unless the draft picks work out. I would have much preferred caron.

how the heck am i sac riding his ass?? i am just as disgusted with mcgrady's antics as anyone, but the facts are that mac had microfracture surgery.. on his knee!! and he hasnt played ball in a year and a half!! thats a year and a half!! and we are comparing all of that to someone who had a wrist injury...?? all i was saying was make martin go through what mac went through THEN we can make a sound judgement!!
