The power went out at my mothers place. Reliant came out and told us that we need to replace the underground wires from the meter to the transformer in the backyard (approximately 70 feet). They claim the wires are old or were either damaged by the trees back there. Supposedely this can cause the house to burn down if we cut the power on. Does anyone have a contact number for a good electrician? Reliant doesn't cover the cost of this. Thanks in advance.
Was it Reliant that came out or Centerpoint? I don't think reliant comes out for repairs I think you need to look for a wire & cabling contractor then once the new line is in place you would have Centerpoint come out and hook it up. Thats how it worked when were building our house last year. We ran the cable from the utility pole (had to take it all the way to where the transformer is) to the electrical box outside the house then Centerpoint came out and connected both ends.
