i was just thinking u know that the first rockets game is gonna be real big with the spot light on rookie yao ming.... but just for the record... would anyone start him ... u know just for publicity reasons... its like jordan... what if on the day of his comeback... he would come off the bench 2 minutes before the half.... i guess alot of it has to do with cato's defense....

I just cant wait for Ming to have his first huge game with numbers like 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks. And I pray to god its against the Dallas Mavs. I'd like to see Cubans face after that game.

That would be great. I cant wait for the day when Im at The Summit, and I dont hear "and at center, Keellllllviiiinn Caatttooooo!!". I doubt seriously though that Ming will start on opening night, but hopefully we wont have to wait to long.

I don't know how much that would benefit Ming and the team chemistry of the Rockets.

I don't care much about the publicity factor, I want to see results.
If Ming is schooling Cato ass (which I think he will) at the out-set of their head to head meetings. Then I say start Ming. I have had my fill of Cato.
    Go Ming!! :)

I don't know which is better, Yao starting or Yao coming off the bench. I think the latter, to keep Cato's confidence up (we do need him to be productive), to let Steve know at the beginning of the season that this is still "his" team, and, most important, because Yao needs time to develop.

Besides, it'll be a nice charge when the crowd gives a standing ovation when the announcement rings in the soon-to-be-"decommissioned" Compaq Center:

"Now in the game for the Rockets,
    Number E-le-ven,
    YAAAAAOOOOOO MIIIIIIIIIIIIINNGG.........!!!!!"

    And the crowd goes apes##t.

Cato has said before while playing with Dream, that he preferred coming off the bench.

Cato is better off the bench, and Francis/Mobley need to start playing with a high post passer as soon as freaking possible, if we ever expect them to change their game.

Starting Cato stunts the development of Francis and Mobley.

Since Ming will join the team late, I doubt he'll start the 1st game. You know Rudy's loyalty too. If Cato plays with renewed vigor (since he thinks/knows he'll loose his starting role), then I'd give Ming to just before all-star break to take over the starting role.

If Cato roles over like a puppy, Ming will start in < 1 month.

Ming will start when Rudy thinks he is ready. I really do not think that with only 1 week of pre-season ( if that ) under Ming's belt , he will not be ready to start at the beginning of the season. Although, Ming will get as many minutes as he can handle considering certain factors ( fouls, matchups, injuries, etc ).

    GO ROCKETS!!!
    GO MING!!!!

You're right. Collier is a stud. If Shaq is the Question, Collier is the Answer.

Ming will be starting at some point or another, but not right away. Poor guy's gonna be worn out. He'll enter the 1st game about halfway through the 1st quarter, when Cato sits with 3 fouls :)D). Loud cheers and Chinese fireworks galore. Power Dancers running under one of those big dragons, weaving across the floor. That sort of thing.

I don't give a **** about Cato's "confidence" and I'm sick of hearing about it.

What happens when Cato gets sat down for Ming, will he whine?
    Will Steve?

If there is any inkling at all that Cato is going to affect Ming and the team in a negative way, we need send him packing right now!

I guess it is a possibility that Cato will whine about coming off the bench but he has said publically( in the past) that he would have no problem coming off the bench.

As for Steve whining, if we are winning and Ming is the team player that he appears to be, it will be highly unlikely that Steve would whine at all.

IMO we need Cato for depth since after Ming , all we have is Collier. That alone is one scary thought. :)

If Cato starts and he witnesses that his backup Yao Ming gets much more uproar from the audience, he'd be foaming on his mouth again!!!
