I'm sorry, but this won't end until EVERY last hamas member is DEAD. Not to mention their friends, Hezbollah, in Lebanon, pieces of shiite. How are you gonna justify this Khan, "brutal occupation?" ---------------------------- 10 Dead, 37 Hurt in Israel Bus Blast By JACK KATZENELL .c The Associated Press JERUSALEM (AP) - An apparent suicide bomber blew up a bus in northern Israel during rush hour Sunday, killing at least 10 people, wounding dozens and scattering charred remains across the highway, Israeli witnesses and officials said. About three hours later, a Palestinian attacker opened fire just outside the walls of Jerusalem's Old City, sparking a gun battle that left three people dead, including the gunman, who was shot by police. An Israeli security guard was fatally shot after being pulled out of a truck belonging to a communications company, and an Arab bystander was killed in the crossfire, said Israeli government spokesman Danny Seaman. Several people were also hurt. The bus was packed with Israelis on their way to work and a number of soldiers returning to their base at the beginning of the work week in Israel. It exploded at the Meron Junction between the towns of Acre and Tsfat, about 35 miles northwest of the West Bank. The militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the bus attack in a statement received in Lebanon by Hezbollah's television station, Al-Manar. Hamas said a suicide bomber had detonated the bomb as a second retaliatory attack for the death of Hamas' military leader, Salah Shehadeh, killed along with 14 other people in an Israeli bombing of Gaza last month. The blast came four days after a bomb exploded in the cafeteria at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, killing seven people, including five Americans. Hamas claimed responsibility for that bombing as well. The attacks in recent days prompted Israel to raid the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday in a hunt for militants. Israeli troops remained in the city on Sunday. A senior police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said 10 people were confirmed dead in Sunday's blast, including a number of soldiers. Thirty-seven people were injured, two critically, said David Peretz, head of the emergency ambulance service Magen David Adom in northern Israel. ``I picked up four dead myself,'' Haim Ben-Shimon, a civilian who was nearby at the time of the blast, told Army Radio. ``The bus is simply crushed. It looks as if the explosion happened in the center of the bus.'' The bus' windows were completely blown out and part of its roof and side were splayed open by the force of the blast, with debris scattered all around the area. Soldiers in flak vests and medical crews swarmed the scene as ambulances took away the injured. Television footage from nearby hospitals showed several of the injured wearing green army uniforms. ``A soldier came out with his face and uniform covered with blood, and two Arabs from the nearby restaurant gave him first aid,'' said witness Pinhas Cohen. The northern police chief, Yaakov Borovsky, said there was a ``high probability'' that a suicide bomber had carried out the attack. Ron Ratner, a spokesman for the Egged bus company, said the passengers on bus No. 361 from Haifa to Tsfat were regulars on Sunday morning, many of them soldiers headed to bases in the north. He said security in Haifa is tight, but that a bomber could have boarded at one of the bus stops on the way. An Israeli official blamed the Palestinian Authority, led by Yasser Arafat, for the attack saying it showed it ``feeds on terror.'' ``This Palestinian terror must be uprooted and Israel will not relent in its pursuit of, and war against, Palestinian terror,'' said David Baker, an official in the office of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The blast occurred as Israeli soldiers pressed their siege on Nablus, searching shops and houses for militants Israel says are responsible for recent attacks. The army entered the town's Old City early Friday, arresting dozens of Palestinians and destroying at least two houses it said were bomb factories. Israeli officials said Nabus had replaced Jenin as the main hub of terrorist cells responsible for recent attacks on Israelis. In the Gaza Strip, meanwhile, soldiers shot dead an armed Palestinian dressed in a wet suit who had apparently swum to an area near the Jewish settlements of Dugit and Alei Sinai, the army said. Also Sunday, as part of its new policy to demolish homes of suicide bombers and other militants, the army blew up four houses in and around the city of Jenin, Palestinian witnesses said. In the West Bank city of Hebron, the army blew up another two houses, one of them belonging to a militant who took part on an attack on a Jewish settlement in April in which four people were killed. The army said in a statement it had destroyed the houses of nine terrorists it said had carried out or planned attacks against Israelis. Israeli officials had said high-level talks between Sharon and Palestinian Cabinet ministers could be expected later this week, but it was unclear whether the meetings would go ahead as planned after Sunday's bombing. Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres also planned to meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Monday, Peres adviser Yoram Dori said on Saturday. Meanwhile, the remains of American student Marla Bennett, 24, of San Diego, Calif., who was killed in the university bombing, were returned to the United States early Sunday. The remains of two other Americans were returned Friday, while an Israeli-American was buried in Jerusalem. The remains of an American-French citizen were to be sent to France on Monday.
Dada, give up politics and stick to games. j/k. If not, it at least adds the fuel to the fire. Their common goal is to have a palastinian country. Open borders won't help achieve that goal. Why should they leave anyway? The way I see it, there are only two ways. You either kill them all, young male and male kids older than 12 anyway; or you help create a friendly government, give them money, return the land, give them a reason to live, not a course to die for. Retaliation achieves nothing. And who's to say there won't be a "Damas" after Hamas? Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for taking out the Hamas. But, taking 50 innocent lives or maybe a dozen children along with every one Hamas member won't achieve anything.
I'm sorry, but this won't end until EVERY last hamas member is DEAD. Not to mention their friends, Hezbollah, in Lebanon, pieces of shiite. The problem here isn't the ideal goal, but the reality. If Israel *could* just get up and kill all of Hamas, hell yeah, do it. The problem is that the more of them you kill, the more hatred you spawn, and the more new members get recruited. It's a good idea in theory, but in reality, it really just makes the problem worse. That said, I don't really know of a good long-term solution here, but it has to involve trying to reduce the hatred - that's how you dissolve the motive for terrorism. you simply can't stop terrorism with military power. In the short-term, I think DaDa's earlier solution of giving the Palestinians a state and just building a freaking wall between the two states is a way to go.
They were soldiers. I don't think any civilians died. edit:Ok only 2 jewish students and 2 foriegn workers died. And 4 soldiers.
What the hell? Oh, only 2 Jewish students died and 2 foreign workers.. you sound relieved that half were soldiers. And its 12 dead now.. i can't find any reports of how many soldiers/civs died. Btw, here are your "innocent" Palestinian Kids/Teens following the Hebrew U bombing. They are Hamas supporters. (AP Photo/Markus Schreiber) The truth hurts.. I didn't see Israelis dancing after Jenin. I didn't see Israelis dancing after the Hamas leader was killed. And most importantly, I DIDNT SEE ISRAELIS DANCING AFTER 9/11!
Well the less civilian deaths on both sides IS a good thing . About the dancing palestinians(about 9-11), can I see a link?
I just get sicker and sicker every day about this......... They should erect a wall, DO NOT GIVE THEM A STATE.....and turn over the land to a mediator type country like Egypt etc..... After 10 years of peace then turn it over to a ruling Palastinian government. The Palastinians need to prove they are part of the answer....as of now they are simply part of the problem. The celebration stuff makes me sick, and lessons my resolve towards their cause. DaDakota
It is long past time to take out Hamas. It is too late for all involved. This situation will only be resolved through war. The Israelis are war-weary and exhausted, but still capable of effective warmaking when pushed to the limit. The current Palestinian generation has been brainwashed into accepting nothing less than a suicidal, end-justifies-the-means gambit to expel the Jewish invaders (as they see it). The endgame will be war, and only one side can be left standing when the smoke clears. The fog of war dominates now. In the end, I predict that Israel will be left standing, or noone will. The Palestinians have, I fear, passed up their chance at statehood and peace. They will regret it in the end. My prediction, that is... What a mess.
TREEMAN!!!!!!!!!! whats up dawg? good to see ya back! we need you here! Your middle-east knowledge is something that is lacking on this board. -F2k1
Which is caused by...occupation. Israel has said it before, but they have demonstrated a total inability to keep themselves from settling where they said they wouldn't. This does NOT justify the Palestinian response, but you have to understand the causes of the problem and the desparation of the Palestinian people. To label one group good and the other evil is what has perpetuated the problem this long. You can bet that there were more than a few Israelis that were happy about it because it meant that the US would unleash the hounds so to speak. Give me concrete examples of the Israelis being part of the solution. BOTH sides ARE the problem. Oh yeah...they'll be SO impartial. At that point you've just killed off Israel entirely. This needs to be a brokered peace. Both sides need to give a little. The Palestinians MUST be allowed to have an economy and legally protected rights. Currently they have niether. That is what is causing their reaction.
If you're ever suspected of a crime, we'll just shoot your Mom in the head...is that fair? It's the exact thing that you're advocating.
Does it bother anybody else that these pictures were during the day? Jerusalem is 8 hours ahead of us making these pictures at about 6 to 6:30 their time...it should have been getting dark at that time of year. I'm not saying that the pics are fakes...but it does raise some suspicions.
