We will probably see threads like this come up everytime after Tmac scores over 25 points or Kevin Martin shoots less than 40% in the next 3 months.
Not so. Per Da Dakota (among others), we saw all that we needed to see, and (I'm paraphrasing), "T-Mac is nowhere near NBA-level. He has just not shown us that he can play in the NBA anymore." Eight minutes a game for a handful of games was all we saw. Now who's knee-jerk? On the flip side, one 26-pt game in just 32 minutes, while impressive, doesn't guarantee he can do this every night. How about being honest and saying, "The jury is still out,"? In the end, it doesn't matter, because we (meaning Rox management, so not really "we" at all) decided a long time ago that we were through with T-Mac, regardless of how much he may have left in the tank.
alright tinman, I have given this topic a lot of thought. The only way the Rockets could get T-Mac to stop slacking and be the $20 million player he is worth is if they exiled him from the team. They knew they were not gonna re-sign him after his 5 year tenure with the Rockets. Morey is a smart man. The only way he could get anything of value from T-mac's contract is if McGrady trained hard and rehabbed. Tracy wasn't going to do that. He figured he can get in shape just by playing the game and shooting around before and afterwards. All he cares about is the money at this point in his career. What did Morey do? He milked the **** out of his assets. He made T-Mac work hard to prove he still had something left. Also, he masked Lantry's biggest weakness. His size. Landry is a great player, but there is a reason why Morey wouldn't start him. He is not big enough to defend starting fours in the league. Now, the Rockets have an efficient scorer and a couple of lottery picks. They are in great shape for next season. I am telling you now, if Yao, Scola, Martin, and Brooks are healthy the Rockets will beat the Lakers in the playoffs next season. Will we win a championship? No, LeBron will murder us. I digress. The point is, as a Rockets fan, I wanted T-Mac and not some lotto picks. But, I understand why this trade had to be done.
What's funny is that this team hasn't been the same since McGrady was exiled from the team. We were all manipulated into thinking he was done, he didn't fit in Adelman's offense and that he was a problem for this team. RA didn't want to play him, but made a personal blunder by bringing him back for the Detroit game. We all remember the Rockets were missing Ariza and were short-handed, out of the blue Adelman decides to play McGrady. We all can see that Tracy can still play, so RA decides on this 8 minutes per game stuff. Remember all the stories about how Adelman made a mistake about playing Webber too much after his surgery? This was just to cover up his blunder, he never ever wanted to play McGrady. Now after playing several of these 8 min games, T-Mac feels he should get more minutes. RA tells him he can't find any minutes, even though our wing players are struggling. We don't know what was said between RA and McGrady, but this led to him being exiled from the team. This team hasn't been the same team since. Why? I'm sure the players can see what the organization has done to one of their fellow teammates. They are afraid to speak out, knowing that they could easily be in RA's doghouse. No more closed practices, limited play and false rumors. Adelman can't hide him any more, we can all judge for ourselves and realize that we were deceived by this organization.
That may just have been TMac's most efficient game of his career. History states that it's a major aberration. Although for the first time in his life, he may now have a reason to be motivated other than money.
Thank you, thats goes to show you how last year affected this year with TMac from the surgery issue last year to the playing time issue this year
My beef with Morey and RA is that they just couldn't be up front about the whole T-Mac issue. They had to make up excuses such as "he has no game left" etc to get the fans support to trade T-Mac. Clearly he still has some game left. We saw it last night and D-wade and Grover pointed it out a while ago. If Adelman and Morey wanted T-Mac gone because of his work ethics, drama, or simply because Adelman wants Martin on the team instead, they should've just been up front about it. Yes, some fans will hate them for it, but the others will support them. NBA is about taking risks, and at this point, I am willing to trust those two to build a contending team. The crap they pulled to get T-Mac gone disgusts me.
Yeah, seems to me like Martin is not exited to be in Houston (yet) but is exited to play for his old coach... Things are a bit more clear now and I dont know how anyone can deny the Tracy Mcgrady deal was more personal than basketball.... Starting to think Adelman was just dying to have Martin on the team... Lets just hope its for the best.....
T-Mac didnt do anything this year..... He just wanted to play, and Morey/Adelman just wanted him gone....
I am not saying that T-Mac doesn't deserve to be traded. I am just disgusted by the way DM and Adelman handled it. I don't care what T-Mac did or didn't do. NBA is about winning that ring, and right now, DM and Adelman isn't getting us there. They made it personal instead of doing what is best for the team. I can be Ariza's biggest hater, but if he brings us that trophy, I will hand him my daughter.
