Look, last night RA played everyone the minutes they deserve. But it backfired because Battier cant play the pf. You know Martin and Ariza will get their 35mpg,so that leaves the 2/3 with only 26 minutes left. If you advocate playing Jeffries or Hill to improve defense at the 4,then Battier takes those 26 minutes at the 2/3 and Cbud DOESNT PLAY.

1.bench cbud rest of year, play battier 26 minutes and jeffries at pf,maybe Hill at pf

2.or use last nights rotation, give Cbud his minutes to improve, make Battier happy with minutes at pf,and bench jeffries and hill rest of year

And I already know the predictable response will be "neither, play according to matchups ,switch it up,some nights battier at pf,some nights jeffries at pf". Not going to happen.

    a) RA likes to be loyal to his veterans and so Battier will get his minutes ,regardless of Cbuds need for minutes

b)RA has proven he doesnt like to switch up rotations thus creating a night by night "do I play tonight coach" scenario like last yr with Tmacs in and out scenario

This also creates a problem for next year. Next year we have under contract all of these players. So unless Morey trades either Battier or Cbud this summer I see a glut at the sg/sf.

This is why thought we'd package some the rotational players with t-mac considering we had no openings for the incoming players.

Jeffries should play very limited minutes, and honestly, Adelman should cut in to Battier's MPG. Battier's very limited on the offensive end of the floor, as he occasionally knocks down a spot-up three. Budinger's more athletic, younger, can create for himself and finish at the rim, and has a solid long range shot. He's not the most polished defender, but that will come with time and experience.

Budinger deserves more PT, and I'd like Adelman to slowly work Jordan Hill in to the rotation, but I don't think that's very likely this season.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin
    Ariza/Budinger
    Scola
    Hayes

Bench C-Bud for this year. Sign Scola and trade Scola + Battier + Jeffries + 2 1st for Bosh.

    Rotation of:
    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Budinger
    Ariza/Budinger
    Bosh/Hill
    Yao/Hill

Spot minutes for someone like Hayes or Andersen at the 4/5.

Im surprised at the results so far. JVG tried playing Battier at pf and it didnt work. Last night was a disaster. Battier gets manhandled inside.

Ariza looks to be coming around. Battier needs his minutes cut. He can't play PF.

Battier had a pretty poor game last night. He made a few big plays on D, but not like he usually does. He really looked like the weak link in the first half.

Exactly, however I propose we re-up Armstrong his more of a legit C than Andersen, and also go after Travis Outlaw in free agency, with the end result being this:

    Lineup 2010/11
    Lowry|Brooks
    Martin|Budinger
    Ariza|Outlaw
    Bosh|Hill|Andersen
    Yao|Armstrong|Hayes

Chuck Hayes 4 fouls in 13 minutes. That's why Battier got so much run at PF.
Scola and David Andersen had to play center for 3 quarters.

I don't like ANY of those choices, myself.

Personally, I would have at least put Hill and/or Armstrong in when we were up by 10 or so (man, it hurts to say that, since we had such a disastrous 4Q), if only to see what they could do. Especially Hill--he's played, what, 250 minutes this year? The only way he'll get better is by playing tougher competition--just like in a video game, where the only way you become a better gamer is by playing the higher difficulty levels (assuming, of course, they don't have Madden-esque levels of cheating). Plus, we'll see if he actually has that inner fire--that drive to succeed and be the best--or if he's content to warm the bench and get paid for it, like Jeffries.

Now, Jeffries is a decent player, but as everyone knows by now, he's terribly overpaid. I say, get him in when we need a defensive presence, and don't re-sign him in the offseason. We can get equally-good players for much cheaper.

As for Hilton Armstrong, I don't know much about him, but given how few actual centers we have...is it safe to say that David Andersen now takes Brian Cook's place as the butt of jokes on this team?

I was at the game last night, so I didn't hear any of the television broadcast.

Was anything said about Martin coming off the bench? Expected to start eventually?

I don't think the conservative approach panned out very well last night for Martin, or the team.

David Andersen would get no burn. Jordan Hill = baptism by fire. I'd let this kid learn on the job immediately. Lottery? So be it.

We can definitely see that Morey really wanted a second draft day deal to flip Scola/Battier/picks into Bosh or Amare. Had that happened, we'd be balanced and scary.

We'll make do for the rest of the year. I think the trick will be to balance the scorers and non-scorers.

    For example:
    Brooks - Ariza - Budinger - Scola - Hayes
    (Temple/Lowry) - Martin - Battier - (Jefferies/Hill/Armstrong) - Anderson

Brooks, Martin, Budinger, Anderson...if these guys are all on the floor, the defense is going to be wet toilet paper.
Lowry, Ariza (depending on the night), Battier, Hayes...this lineup is good for a 60 point offensive disaster.

Find the proper combinations that will give us the right balance. I'm not against a Scola-Hayes-Anderson 3 man rotation at the 4/5 until or if Hill is ready to contribute. Maybe that means Battier becomes a 20 mpg guy off the bench.

In this yr of development, i'm really hoping adelman plays hill and chase consistent minutes. Scola should play 30 with hill getting the rest. Trevor and martin should play 30-32 with chase and shane getting the rest. It would be disappointing to see shane playing alot of minutes. Chuck should also have his minutes reduced also.

In my opinion, the goal is to position ourselves better for the next year. In another word, we need to do a sign and trade for Bosh or Amare. Our package is Scola + Battier + picks. So the rest of season is to increase the value of the trade pieces, that's Shane.

That's actually exactly what I would do.

Although if we work a sign and trade for Chris Bosh, wouldn't that leave our MLE open? We might be able to get a decent scoring threat to backup either Martin or Ariza with that money.

    I have more of a problem with Lowry/Brooks/Ariza/Martin/Budinger/Battier log-jam.

Lowry has to be out there, but Brooks still has to get his minutes. Obviously that leaves poor Bud out of the equation for the rest of the year, with Battier and Ariza looking at much less minutes.

By the way, was it me or did Martin look gassed at the end of the game last night. I remember in the huge thread about the trade some people mentioned that he gets fatigued towards the end of the game.
