let's not go hyper now. tmac will have his ups and downs (it was adrenaline tonight) b/c his first step and athleticism aren't fully there. that will take many more months, which the season doesn't have left. he has a strong chance of making the all-star team next year depending what team he plays on.
what the hell are you guys talking about? why do you guys keep bringing this up? DM AND RA wanted to trade tmac. tmac heard about it but didnt want to houston. he was angry so he blocked the trade with the surgery announcement. so tell me, what did you expect tmac to do? tell the guys who were trading him about his surgery? that's stupid. it's like telling burglars where you keep all your money. if he told DM and RA that he's opting for surgery, they would have announced the trade first before the trade. that's why tmac opted to just tell the trainers about it and went ahead with the press confference
I think he'll easily make the all-star team. He just needs to stay healthy and average some good numbers (20,5,5) and he'll get many votes from China as well.
this is why you know tracy mcgrady still has superstar status by his name alone. dude has freakin' 26 points and every major sports name talks about him, while all the other traded players didn't get more than a bleep lol.

i doubt kevin martin would have this kind of press coverage if he was traded to the knicks. tracy mcgrady is a big name in basketball. that matchup of knicks v. us on 3/21 might be on ABC if tmac keeps playing like this.
Why is that "lol"? None of the other traded people came close to 26 points. T-mac had, by far, the best game of any newly traded player. Add to that, he plays in the biggest media market. Add to that, he was the biggest and most accomplished traded player going into the traded deadline. The IQ on this board has really suffered... I wish there were a bunch of Daryl Moreys here.
Very happy for Tracy. Good to see him healthy, good to see him play well, brings back lots of memories. I hope he takes the Knicks to the playoffs this season and earns himself a rich new contract. In fact I hope he plays so well the Knicks give him lots of their capspace after being rejected by Lebron and Wade. A Knicks team headlined by Amare and Tmac, two of the great teases in basketball, means that we'll be getting a lottery pick or 2 in the near future.
HERE IS A VID OF HIS HIGHLIGHTS <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zyY-Gb_z-nQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zyY-Gb_z-nQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> thanks dingaaa
francis was actually good for the magic and had a great early stretch. the problem was when he got traded to the knicks.
Adleman is a horrible coach. We got 3 i said THREE 6 10 or taller guys and he continues to play that trash starting front court. Love chuck hayes though, but Indiana has always had size.
This was the Tracy McGrady of old NEW YORK -- This was the Tracy McGrady we remembered. This was the uber-skilled scorer with the cucumber cool demeanor who could put up points in YouTube quality bunches and draws five sets of eyeballs every time his hands touched the leather. Who was that imposter fumbling around in Houston with the 3.2 points-per-game scoring average and the shallow pool of confidence? Not this McGrady. This was the Tracy McGrady of old. There wasn't much not to like about McGrady's debut with the Knicks on Saturday night. Sure, he started slow. His night unofficially began with Wilson Chandler redirecting him to a different spot at center court for the opening tip. His first few dribbles looked sloppy and the look on his face showed the lack of confidence that comes with playing just 46 minutes in nearly a calendar year. That feeling lasted, oh, about two and a half minutes. Then McGrady drew a foul on a jump shot and swished two free throws. He followed that up with bullet pass assist to David Lee and picked up another on a handoff to Lee moments later. By the end of the first quarter McGrady had 10 points, three assists and the sellout crowd of 19,763 superstar-starved Knicks fans roaring in thunderous approval. He finished the game -- good one, by the way, won by Oklahoma City 121-118 in overtime -- with 26 points, five assists, four rebounds and the seal of approval from the Madison Square Garden crowd. "It really gave [me] chills down my spine," said McGrady. "I haven't felt that good in awhile." It's possible that McGrady's time in New York won't last longer than the 28 games the Knicks have remaining in the season. It's no secret that McGrady's true value lies not in his seven All-Star appearances and 21.9 career points-per-game scoring average, but in his $22.5 million expiring contract. The Knicks are expected to be among the biggest players in this summer's free agent free-for-all and they need McGrady's money to do it. But Saturday night McGrady took the first step towards reclaiming his NBA career that stalled when he was banished by the Rockets in December. With Mike D'Antoni carefully distributing his minutes (McGrady played 32 and never more than five or six at a time) McGrady showed the skills that once made him one of the most feared players in the game. He powered shots over Nick Collison and Nenad Krstic near the basket. He slipped a three-fourths court bounce pass to Al Harrington that Harrington caught in stride and finished with a layup. He operated out of the pick-and-roll -- New York's bread and butter play -- like he had been in it all season. "I was surprised how good he was in the pick-and-roll," said Lee. "In Houston he had more post-up big men, like Yao. Yao is not sprinting in and out of pick-and-rolls. He didn't look like he missed a beat." "He's a superstar," said Eddie House. "That's what superstars do." Any doubts that McGrady would be an asset for the Knicks this season were dispelled on Saturday. Playing without a knee brace and without any noticeable effects from last February's microfracture knee surgery (credit trainer Tim Grover, who has been working McGrady out for the last two months in Chicago, with an assist for that) McGrady's jump shot showed little rust (he made 10-17 field goals) and the only negative to dwell on was that his legs wouldn't allow him to play more than a few second in overtime. "I didn't have any legs at all," said McGrady. "I didn't want to be a hero." He didn't have to be. Against an Oklahoma City team that went into the game holding opponents to a league-low 43.5 percent, the Knicks shot a blistering 48.8 percent and came within some late Kevin Durant heroics from pulling out a quality win against an emerging Western Conference power. McGrady's presence on the floor attracted attention from every Thunder player, forcing double and triple teams that resulted in big games from Lee (30 points) and House (24). "His basketball IQ is way up," said D'Antoni. "He makes the soccer pass or the hockey pass, whatever you want to call it. But he does that." Eventually, McGrady's legs will come back. His stamina will return. Then we will see the real Tracy McGrady. Chances are, we'll see a pretty good player. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...x.insider/index.html?xid=si_nba#ixzz0g9gMIe1o Wouldnt say McGrady of old, but he was good I guess.
