The Lovett is probably too gay-friendly for your tastes anyway.

River Oaks Garden Club on the Southwest corner of Westheimer and Kirby. When I got married, 14 years ago, it was fairly reasonable and they let you arrange your own catering which can save big bucks versus country clubs and hotels. It is especially nice if you do it at a time of year when you can use the outdoor gardens. I don't know about the capacity.

the owner's are gay... that's about it. I don't recall seeing any rainbows anywhere on the property. I know you don't have to be gay to rent a room or get married there. Shoot, I got married there. Didn't have 300 people though, about 50. Very nice, small wedding.

Rockets03, I wish you the best. Good luck in your search, I'm sure wherever you decide to get married/have a reception it will be kick @ss!!

well i didn't say you have to be gay to go there but they do advertise a lot in gay publications/websites so much of their clientele is probably gay. Plus it is in the heart of Montrose. I only mentioned it because I know how 03 feels about us. I'm sure he wouldn't want any gay folks anywhere nearby on his special day.

I dont recall having insulting you in some way. You can be homosexual for all I care. Why do you care so much about what I think about homosexuality anyways? So I dont agree with your views. Get over it and stop bringing up your sexuality for no apparent reason.

I wasn't trying to be insulting. I was trying to be helpful. And can you tell me I'm wrong? If it could hold 300 people and you liked the place would you honestly hold your wedding there after knowing what i told you? I doubt it. And that is your right. I don't care how you feel about homosexuality. I didn't say what I did to start an argument about your feelings.

Regardless, congratulations on your engagement. Hope you have a nice wedding wherever it takes place.

Actually I probably would. If my favorite restaurant had a gay owner it does not mean I would stop going there. But lets not argue this any further.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

How about on the Universal Studios tour, when the shark pops out of the water.

    R03,

thanks anyway not sure the kids would get me, you seriously going to visit australia, if so send me an email, i have visited most corners of downunder and sure it would be great to catch up, assuming i don't see you when i visit for my honeymoon.

Also, don't invite HeyPeee it would just bring his laptop and give live updates, it is strangely annoying the way he carries his computer everywhere with him, including the toilet.

I am trying to convine my other half to go to Australia. That is one place I've always wanted to visit.

You are planning on coming to Houston for your honeymoon? Why to Houston? ;) Well if you do make it up here we can meet up. I'll show you what we call a real steak up here, unlike the outback stuff you are used to. ;) On me.

I second the River Oaks Garden Club. We got married there in October 99 in the evening out side and it was Very Nice. We skipped the DJ and had a Jazz band playing outside. Very Classy but not expensive... Here is the catch... It's a non-profit organization so the cost is very low, $750 I believe.
