If the Rockets would''ve traded for Amare and he left this offseason, I would've been one angry camper.
This trade may still happen in the offseason. If the Rockets can't get Bosh, I would welcome Amare with this trade
That'll be stupid to trade Scola + Battier + picks for Amare. He's not worth even Scola. Did you guys even know how hard it is to create chemistry as a team and Battier and Scola is a big part of last year run...they're 2 of the bullies that we have. Don't take things for granted and change just for the sake of changing.
Morey was very wise in not trading for Amare... that way he can weigh his options in free agency in the summer... If he wanted to at that time, he could do a S&T with say Cleveland (LeBron James) and we trade Yao Ming, Battier, Lowry, and a future 1st round pick + future 2nd round pick + cash considerations. If Morey really wanted to go after LeBron, I think a possible trade would look like this for Cavaliers to even begin listening. "But Yao is the Rockets' Organizations' Cash Cow!" Well, we trade one cash cow for another with no problem. Would this be too much or too little?
Maybe Morey is playing poker again with Steve Kerr and the rest of the NBA: 1. Testing out whether realistically we have enough assets to go through (nearly) with a sign and trade for a top player such as Amare, with this summer in mind; 2. Sending a message to the coveted players/NBA GMs: We could have gotten Amare if we wanted. Think about Houston. Either way he definitely got the attention from the rest of the league. He has people asking what ifs, drawing up depth charts to see if we would be a contender. Bosh and DWade are probably secretly comparing themselves to Amare and thinking, "Yao, Martin, Ariza, Brooks, and I... Hmmmm...", perhaps even Lebron (unlikely). Morey would have gotten his point across in a classic "Show not tell" fashion, without even having to talk to Bosh/DWade. I like.
Right on! Bosh is definitely a better player than Amare. Bosh plays hard, physical if needed, play the post with his back to the basket, rebounds better, plays better defense. Amare is actually overrated - his stats is decent only because Phoenix plays fast and run many more plays per game, AND there is Steve Nash feeding the ball. In short, Bosh >>> Amare (they are not on the same level).
I agree. Bosh is much more of a franchise player than Amare will ever be. Given the medical history of Amare, the last thing we need is having someone that had Microfracture surgery + eye problems, when we already have Martin + Yao who are somewhat injury prone.
I didn't need to see this. If this is correct then this makes me mad at Morey all over again. He trades our best 4th quarter guy, Carl Landry, and gets us someone that has an injury history. kinda made up for it a little after he got that nice little gift package from New York for taking JJ. Felt a lot better after hearing we got that from the Knicks. But if he would have somehow made a trade to get Amare and we still keep AB, Martin, Lowry etc. That would have totally made up for him trading Landry! I think we would have easily been playoff contenders this year and the next year we would've been serious contenders for a championship with AB, Martin, Ariza, Amare and Yao Ming! s.o.b lol oh well. hopefully DM has something up his sleeve this summer. *cough cough* Chris Bosh *cough* And hey this is gonna be my 1st post. yah. Been using this site for a while now and hope to have a lot more posts to add in the future.
Over the past few weeks I learned, to just let Morey do his thing. If he didn't so something there is probably a good reason for it. He loves messing with other GM's mind!
Personally, I don't think Amar'e is good to have. The Rockets are notorious for its injury-prone stars, and it would be a sad day to see Yao, Kevin Martin AND Amare sitting a game out.
You do realize Ariza just helped the Lakers win a championship like less than, oh, i don't know, 10 months ago?
you can, Landry had his physical yesterday. Maybe there's something wrong with Amar'e. Nothing that you would notcie right away, but something that would debiliitate him later in the season, and something that would come up on a physical.
