everyone's talking about how much of a steal Blair is. Yes, he is, but Darren Collison's been flying under the radar, and I think he is just as big of a steal as Blair. He's been putting up some crazy numbers since paul went down. Check out his most recent stats, 18 pts 13 rebs, 12 assists.

The kid's been tearin' it up and he benefits from learning from one of the best.

First off y'all are casually dismissing his turnover problem... that's okay though. Collison was a surefire lotto pick his 2nd year at UCLA. For some reason he stuck around, Westbrook stole his thunder, and everyone forgot about the guy... he was always good though.

I noticed he's had 2 games with huge TO numbers but then I looked at his entire game log and his turnovers per game and decided it was better to see if these games were just anomalies.

That's because most of his games are still as CP3's backup.

You should only look at his Turns per game in games in which CP3 wasn't there

Why does it matter whether the TOs per game was with or without CP3? A TO is a TO isn't it?

When CP3 was there, Collison didn't get many minutes but still played. So his turnovers per game would be low as he doesn't get minutes.

I wouldn't worry about Collison's turnover problem unless he was a 3rd year player. Many rookies make mistakes in their 1st year. It's only a problem if they don't learn from those mistakes.

He wasn't a high turnover player in college. He averaged only 2.5 turnovers in college as a starter.

In the 9 games since CP3 was out, Collison is averaging 9.8 ast and 20.8 points, shooting 0.473 from the field and 0.4 3 pointers. much better than CP3's first year........

DC is playing legit I was a bit skeptical on him being able to be a starting point guard in the league I thought he would be an amazing backup but he is proving me wrong the guy is really excelling in the absence of paul.

his TOs are high but I am going to put that up to a new role in a new offensive system, he is otherwise a very smart player and will learn from his mistakes. He is a rookie after who hardly saw any minutes early in the season (wow how foolish do you look now byron scott?) so he has less experience still at this point than some of the other rookies PGs in his class.

always glad to see UCLA guys doing good out there I wanted DC to go to the rockets but with Brooks and Lowry I am more than happy with our PG rotation

    This.

When talking about "steals" in the draft, many forget you may not get the same production if he were on a different team. Teammates, environment and coaching have an effect on their performance and confidence.

Hornets system is to play around their PG. Plug in a guard who is quick and can shoot the ball and penetrate a little, the guard will probably get a nice looking stat. I dont know if you guys watched any Hornets game, but Paul destroys the defense, while Collison just flows with the team and tries to be effective.

i don't care what system you play in, anytime you are putting up a triple double and playing the way he's been playing AND you are a rookie? you are a freaking steal.

Man, I was always higher on him than Westbrook. Glad to see Westbrooks proved me wrong and is developing into a heckuva player but I'm even happier to see Collison showing some of the GM's that passed up on him what he's about.
