Any suggestions? Going to be getting married next year and still have not decided on a place. Anyone have any suggestions? Money is not really an object. I want something different then hotels, but hotels would be fine too. My girlfriend is suggestion Moody Gardens or something like that.

How about at the 'Rice Lofts' in downtown? They have some kind of area for wedding receptions.

Just get a luxury box at a Rockets game! You, know keep it intimate, just your closest family and friends.

    :)

Seriously, I know you said that you didn't really want a hotel, but the Westin-Galleria is always a cool place to stay.

I got married in December. We held our reception at Northgate Country Club off of FM 1960. I know it's out there in the suburbs, but they produced an afternoon that was simply magic. Very elegant surroundings and extremely professional. Angela McCorkle is their wedding coordinator and she's awesome!!!!

I'd be happy to email you pictures from the reception if this would help.

Congratulations, ROckets03. May you and your future wife have many years of happiness together!! ;) ;)

Here is a link which has a list of places to hold a wedding reception in Houston:

    http://www.houstonsweddingguide.com/Reception.html

In addition, you may want to check out The Petroleum Club of Houston (http://www.pcoh.org). The view of Downtown Houston is fantastic (especially at night), and the decor is beautiful.

I also recommend Azalea Manor (http://www.azaleamanor.com). Apparently, you can see the entire Houston Downtown skyline up close in the background.

    Good luck!!

screw Smeggy....he's an outbacker with an out-backing mullett. He will ruin all your pictures.

Now...as for me...I'm serious! I'm so fresh and up on this wedding stuff in Houston....Smeggy just wants to say his vows and fly off to see the Rockets and let the gals deal with the details.

I just got married in Houston about two weeks ago and my wife and I both loved our reception site: The Taj Hall. It's very close to the Hilton - South West Freeway at 59 and Hillcroft. You might particularly like it as it's run by an Indian (Ash Munshi) who was incredibly easy to work with and they are used to working with Indian-themed receptions. The place looks very nice inside but it's next to several warehouses so it's also cheaper than it should be. Let me know if you have any other questions.

you can get married there, have a reception and your family can rent out the available rooms!

no offense, but the Azalea Manor is a dump.

You can rent out Rockefellas....gives you a stage for the band, a nice setup, multiple balconies....it was a cool venue when there was music, now its a cool rental venue...

    I miss concerts there.

You can also rent out the upstairs of Treebeards. They can handle catering, too.

    good food!!!

best thing about it, imo, is the location. Downtown in Historic (for Houston) Market Square. A lot of walking distance things to go to after the reception for the guests, and you have a good choice of quality hotels nearby for the honeymoon suite.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys and Mrs. JB. My gf is going to come over sometime today or tomorrow and we are going to check out everything together.

Mrs. JB, that place is nice. One of my favorites so far.

Refman, I would love to have the pictues if its not too much trouble. Thanks for offering.

bcdjad, thanks for the links. Its been very helpful so far.

I'm also going to check out Houstonian and Rockafellas. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Rockhead, unfortunately that place cant hold 300 people, which is what we are expecting. Indian weddings are rather large. If it was upto my family it would be 1000 people!

NJRocket, I just might have to take you up on that offer. Does that place have a website or something?

Dylan, thanks for the info. I'll check up on that as well.

Smeggy, I would invite you, but I dont want to scare the little kids that will be there. However, if you are that eager to see me we are planning on honeymooning in Australia and India. Maybe you can suggest some places in the land down under? :)

Heypee, I would invite you, but are you sure you can afford to spend time away from your commode?

R 03...i dont think they have a website...although i never really checked. Its on Cypresswood Rd in Spring, Tx. (not too far off of 1960)...drive by it, go inside, check it out and if you need me to make a call I will. Im not sure you even need to be a member or a friend of a member to have it there but Id be more than happy to help you out. I think the woman who is the club mgr is named Diana.

    Good Luck

Rockets03 - Glad you like the Parador. My sister visited it a couple of weeks ago and said the website photos just don't do it justice. I trust her - she has impeccable taste (she's an interior designer) and has been looking forward to getting married since she was a kid! There's no way she's going to settle for just any old reception hall.
