To think....These two will be the next dynamic duo for Houston for many years...This pic was from the China games back in 2004...Kevin Martin was just a rookie back then...I'm not worried about Kevin Martin not being in sync Yao (in which most cases I do with every new player) since he went to the country that Yao is from and knows what kind of pressure he goes through and probably talked some...gosh, I wish I could just get some good quotes from him talking about Yao...

 

sorry to ask but what does "protected rights" mean?

 

The 2011 pick if it happens to be the #1 overall pick it's protected and the Knicks keep it. We can't switch with them.

The 2012 pick if it happens to fall between #1-#5 the Knicks keep it.

I don't think we got it resolved whether or not we would get another pick if the pick happened to fall in those protected zones.

 

I think Jared Jeffries will surprise people. The guy is not trash.

also... during the sports part of the 9 o'clock news Berman also interviewed Landry in his house.. I don't think that video has been posted yet.

 

WOW ... that makes this deal AMAZING ... saving 2.7 mil in luxury tax, getting 4.5 mil in luxury tax share, getting 4.5 mil in less contracts annual ... I bet its more than saving 11 mil, more like 14 mil this year, when we don't have to match the luxury penalty. But, we ARE taking on Kevin Martin's expensive contract for like 45 mil, and Jeffries 6.8 mil for 2 years.

... still, I am pretty blown away by how good this deal turned out to be for the Rockets, while achieving the goals of the other teams as well. That's the hallmark of good deal-making.

Its a restriction. For the 2011 pic Houston can choose to swap places with NY. The restriction on that pic is top 1. So if the NY ends up with the number 1 pic Houston can't swap. So Houston's right to swap pics with NY gets moved to another year with no restiction.

For the 2012 pic its top 5 protected so ite means if NY gets a pic between 1 and 5, Houston can't claim it and again, has to wait another year to claim it.


so for the 2011 pic, unless its the #1 pic, its Houston and for 2012 if its 6 and up, its Houston's.

 

Plus we get insurance money for yao and Tmac that could add up to another 10 mil or so. Les made another big profit.

 

You sure about that? Some said if the pick does get protected, there is no next year.

 

I have a funny feeling that Jordan Hill will have a career similar to Jared Jeffries, as Clyde would say "a consummate professional".

 

He's actually a good comparison to landry's rookie year. Both barly played in the first half of the season, both have amazing athletism but is just to raw.
Landry's only moves in is rookie year were a. Dunk b. rebound and dunk c. ally oop.(suprisingly option a-c is still dwights moveset after 5 yrs) that pretty much what hill does now but he has a short jumper and a bigger body. So hill actually has a higher ceiling its just if he can but it together

Telling me that martin was the best thing we could get for tmac and landry? And why sacramento? Adelman trying to re-invent his Kings who never did anything?
