I'm thinking that we got sergio rodriguez just incase lowry bails on us in the summer. (not sure if sergio is an expiring contract or not) if he is, then i'm sure he'd be cheaper to keep and gives us a taller backup point guard, if that amounts to anything haha, at least he's not a score-first guard.
Why? We essentially traded Landry for Martin. Who on earth wouldn't do that deal? We didn't break up our starting lineup ...unless you consider that we now have to bench one of our starters to make room for a 20ppg guy.
Considering we don't know if the three-team deal is going to happen and we're not 100% that he's going to them even if it does, I think it's fine to discuss Sergio. I am not sure why people keep saying this as if the Knicks part is a done deal.
For those men and women that are desirous to acquire the rights to Ricky Rubio, I invite you to take a good, long gander at Sergio Rodriguez's career at this point in time. Rodriguez's pre NBA career was filled with breathtaking highlights akin to Rubio's Spanish league work.
Rubio's stats are much better. Llull stats are better. His NBA stats from this season look promising. I think, with Llull, Rodriguez, Lowry, and Brooks, the Rockets are in position to make a big trade(s) in the offseason.
Maybe because they're both talented 6'2-6'3" ish white Spanish point guards who played European pro ball and were picked in the first round of the NBA draft? Obviously they are different as players but there is enough basis to make a comparison.
I didn't know where to drop this in; so, here you go. Lets talk about this guy! http://hoopshype.com/players/shareef_abdur_rahim.htm Who knew he was still lurking around. Gotta love Shareef.
Sergio can't shoot, that's all I have to say. If this deal goes down for the Kings, they come out like a bandit. Kmart isn't producing for 'em anyways. They keep their good young core adding Landry to the mix and shave salary for a good FA next year. All they give up are players they don't need. I was mightily fine let Tmac rot. You cry babies get your wishes now.
Precisely. Sergio Rodriguez had many NBA fans excited with his magical passing and court vision that was displayed in his Spanish league highlights. Unfortunately, these skills did not appear to translate well to the NBA.
I used like this guy when he was playing for the Blazers, he has all the tools to be a pure point guard, he loves creating for others and creative. But i do remember he is a bad shooter, Unless he is like Jason Kidd, it is hard to be a good point guard who can't shoot especailly when we have dominant center like Yao. But yea he looked really good in open court and with spacing. I am pretty sure he is good with pick and roll just like many euro point guards. I think i would have liked this trade more if NY was giving us Jordan HIll.
He is shooting .463, and .357 behind the arc this season, that's pretty good. Seems to have been improving the last couple years. Let's be fair, he hasn't been given that much of a chance so far, and he's only 23 years old. He finally started getting some real minutes last season (15 per game) and showed significant improvement.
If all you see is stats, don't forget he is playing like 13 min a game taking 5 shots. I have seen enough of him in Portland and Sac. He is a 3rd string guard and just that.
