Doc sighting! Thanks for weighing in, Doc. Sergio to NY makes sense. I wonder what we might get back. You just had to mention Rubio, didn't you?
this isn't an amazing trade. We just gave up a 30 year old Tmac for a 27 year old version of Tmac. What good is K-Mart if he's not playing? Landry was expendable, I loved the guy but I don't mind him being moved. I'm just as thrilled about this trade as most of ya'll.
You know why they can't double Kevin Martin? Because hes sitting on the bench with another season ending injury. You know why they WON'T double Landry? Because Yao Ming will be back.
I hate to see Landry go. But Martin will definitely be welcome and we will have a lot of minutes for him. Personally, I don't know why DM would part with Landry without plans for replacing him - perhaps a deal for Amare is in the works? Wouldn't that be something.
yes, but the other one (vs Detroit) we do just fine.. funny thing is Bud always double-double on that games..
I think Lowrey will be starting PG when Yao return. He is stronger in defense and has better court-vision. And more importantly, he can pass the ball.
hhmmm... Rockets get Martin, Harrington and Jeffries Kings get McGrady, Landry and Dorsey Knicks get Rodiguez, K Thomas, Armstong Brooks, Lowry Martin, Taylor Ariza, Battier, Budinger Harrington, Scola, Jeffries Yao, Hayes, Andersen
I don't like this trade - I do not think Kevin Martin is the answer for us. If T-mac couldn't help us bring the prize home, Kevin Martin won't either. I would have liked to see us wait until the summer after next and go after someone like Carmelo Anthony. I don't think that's a possibility after this trade.
That was a good laugh for the morning to combat the death of Scolandry. It was sure fun watching Landry come into the league and grow into the player he is today. I still don't think he's a frontline starter against the Western Conference PFs, but he was fun to watch. Morey got us what we needed most...the Scoring 2. You can't complain when you trade a backup for a starting 2. When you look at our starters for next year, I think its a nice offensive lineup : AB(19pts), K-Mart (20pts), Ariza (less than 15pts), Scola (15pts), Yao (20+) When you get balanced scoring like that it will be hard to stop them. The lose the 2nd unit effect, but won't need the scoring as badly now. 2nd unit of Lowry, Budinger, Battier, hayes/Anderson still has some scoring mixed with some defense. I think it definitely makes backup PF our weakness next year. So, they'll have to try to find somebody in free agency/draft to fill that need, but I think thats do-able. Finding the legit scorer at the 2 was the impossible thing to find and they had failed at previously. So, all in all, we'll see how the trade ends up, but from the perspective of positioning the rockets well for next year, I think its a win for the Rockets because we still have the roster flexibility and didn't end up loaded down with bad contracts.
My impression is Sergio can't shoot. Martin is another injury laden player. Kenny, oh well, we all know Kenny. Had the deal included Brian Cook instead of Landry, hell yeah, but not this.
It is true. If you look around the league, there's plenty of 15pt PFs. Landry has so much heart if just feels bad to let him go as a fan. But then again, as a fan, winning cures all, and getting a top 5 scorer will definitely get wins. Maybe there's a chance Landry can learn how to pass out of double teams while he gets extended minutes with Sacto and the Rockets can re-sign down the road.
If T-Mac can play (which we don't even know because he wasn't given the chance)......this will go down as the stupidest move in the history of Rocket basketball.
People have to give something to get something. Its sad because all of us Rocket fans saw Landry blossom into this really good player from where he was at. BUT at the same time Carl didnt handle double teams well and did not improve one bit on defense. Martin on the other hand brings what we need now and in the future. He is a scorer that already knows the system in place (a lot of you underestimate this). We have a pretty good squad now. BUT, I dont think Morey is done trading until the fat lady sings. So I expect another deal to probably get done soon for a backup PF.
