I'm hearing many people complain about Morey for not taking the New York deal from the same people who was on his jocks the past few years. I am really disappointed to see Landry leave, but after thinking it through, this deal put the Rockets in the best position. The deal on the table was 1st round pick + 1st round swap + Hill + Jeffries for Dorsey, Tmac. If we wanted to wait 3 years to start winning, this deal would have made sense. Unfortunately, with Yao getting older and getting more frail, this NYK deal is illogical. Add that to the fact that there would be no guarantee that Carl Landry re-signs here, and the fact that we would have either needed to ship those picks out to get another player (who would have to fit our system) or actually draft the first rounders and then give them first round money. With Kevin Martin in the picture, we not only get a guy who has played within the Adelman system before, but a guy who can give us another offensive threat, allowing Ariza to go to his normal role back in his days in LA. This takes tons of pressure off of Brooks, and it allows Battier to becomes a very valuable trade asset to a contender who is looking for a great defender.
dude... do you honestly think we can be championship team with Kevin Martin and Yao? i rather tank the seaon get younger with draft picks unless we sign all star PF aka Bosh or Amare during the off season there is no way we can compete with the western conference teams that has crazy talents around them hell next year grizz might play better than us
So you wanted to get picks and wait 3 years for them to blossum and then go for a championship when Yao isn't here anymore?
Brooks says hello.... Also you are forgetting we almost beat the Lakers....with Yao Ming, who knows what happens if he had more help...If Yao is back to his old self than yes. Never underestimate the impact of a dominant center. ...Also hopefully we Get Hill from the Knicks in this whole thing. Our new player averaged 10mpg and scored 2.9 his rookie season...sound familiar?
