Thats what it boils down to right. KMart is three years younger than TMac. I mean we can't talk salary anymore, as no one knows what Tmac might of been paid by the Rox next year if all things were good between them. But is KM's three years worth it? You can't argue durability over TMac. You can't argue playmaking ability over TMac, you can't argue passing, rebounding, or defense. Scoring to me is a wash, as KM has declined steadily over the years. Look at his Shooting percentage drop over the last 4 years for gods sake. This is NOT a thread to say Tmac should stay, as much as Im struggling with the idea of Adelman/Morey stating that Tmac didn't fit our plans in regards to letting the youngsters grow. So what does Kmart do to Brook's, Ariza's growth? We are talking three straight years of injuries from KMart, and several straight from Yao. This is what we are banking on for our version of a title run? Id love this deal 3 years ago, or if I could wave my magic no inury wand over KM's body. Facts are that KM doesn't do anything better than TMac, plays a position that Ariza and from time to time Brooks plays, and will be eating up shots, all the while his shooting percentages have dropped drastically. If KM can find his groove as a scorer then the Rox are right back where over the last 5 years, a good regular season team with zero chance to win a title. KM just isn't a "make your teammates/team better" type player. He is no playmaker. Sorry just isn't. Not even in his best years. Losing Landry hurts, but I would never of minded moving him if it meant real progress to attaining another title. Does anyone really feal as though this move puts us close to the Boston's, Orlando's, Cleveland's, Laker's territory? Does it seem as bright a future as maybe Oklahoma's? So are those three years worth it?
TMac was gone either way. Whether he got traded or not, he was done being a Houston Rocket. I don't see the point in comparing him to Kevin Martin, or to the "assets" we could have gotten from a Knicks trade.
WHY did you make a thread when you could just post it in a forum? threads like this just crowd up the GARM. LOCK IT UP.
3 years of on earth...but he played college basketball which the seasons are 1/3 of what they are in the nba, so kmart has quite a bit more tread theoretically...
The point is.... What does pairing KM with Yao provide that TMac/Yao didn't or couldn't? If Tmac/Yao didn't get it done, KM/Yao will?
you cant compare the shooting percentage between a role player and a main scorer. Kevin martin has increased his scoring average the each past 4 years and thats what matters. This year his numbers are down because he was injured and during his recovery tyreke evans took over.
Here is a suggestion to the not so quick witted ones like you. Don't read it then. See how easy that is? If you took the time to read the thread, this is a topic not just about the trade, but to decifer amongst basketball fans what could be accomplished and why the reasoning behind it. Where we could go, or not go. Is it the stupid who make stupid threads, or the ones who hate them but feel compelled to post in all of them?
Oh man you act like Ariza is worth investing in lol. Also, Brooks will grow regardless, they are at different positions!
The T-mac era with the Rockets was over since last year. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see T-mac out perform KMart on every level next year.
lol i am so confused, i say we tank the season get higher draft pick to rebuild. Screw yao i dont even know if he can stay healthy again lol team injury prone FTW
