Agree 100%. This stinks of the trade that landed McGrady in the first place. But McGrady was on top of the basketball world skill-wise at that point, with no significant injury issues to speak of at that point. Martin is not much better now than McGrady was last year and certainly nowhere close to McGrady even two years ago. On top of that, he's already shown he can't play more than 2/3 of a season at best. The man's played in 71% of his team's game to this point in his career. Great. On top of that, he brings no other skills to the table outside of scoring. I can't imagine how awful our defense is going to look with Martin on the floor, as if it's not porous enough as it is most nights. All he can do is shoot, and he can't even do it well the last two years. And we're giving up our efficiency king and fan favorite for this guy? Attachment I feel for Landry aside, the Rockets are getting HOSED.
Landry was not a good rebounder for his position. You sign players to play and win games. everything else is consequential.
Did a bit of digging on Martin, and he certainly seems like a statistician's dream; he seemingly already plays the way the Rockets do right now. I hate to bring up old articles, and I'm sure some of his fans here have posted it already, but this is a good read from the beginning of this year, and should leave you somewhat encouraged that even if Martin is a 42% shooter, he's still ridiculous, and as bad as Aaron Brooks can be sometime, I have to think he's a better point guard than Tyreke Evans. http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/slamonline-top-50/2009/09/top-50-kevin-martin-no-41/ Still absolutely hate losing the Tooth, but we shouldn't discount how good Martin is at doing his job of putting the ball into the basket. Injuries are a big concern, but this is definitely an aggressive move, a big risk, and is showing Morey's willingness to give up on arguably the best move he's made in his short career, when everyone believed that A: He only went for small, conservative moves, and B: He overvalued his own players such that he couldn't make deals.
I wish some of yall had a little more faith in DM He has done a great job managing this team im sure things will turn out great tommorow. K-Mart is on a losing team a crappy organization so there is probably some good to the change of scenery. The Rox even though they might not make the playoffs this year are still a playoff team when at full strength. So have some madderfaking faith he is the WIzaRd DAmmit!
