I don't think you understand what he was saying.

The Rockets would trade McGrady to the Knicks, and then trade Larry Hughes (ala Knicks trade) to Chicago for Salmons and probably Jerome James.

So is this a "Rockets to decide on Knicks, Bulls offer Wednesday" but "will announce on Thursday" kinda thing?

Doubt the Bulls want Hughes back even though he's expiring, but ya never know!

don't know if this has been posted yet but via Adrian Wojnarowski twitter:

"Bulls have fallen out of consideration for TMac and Houston focus on negotiating draft pick protection to complete NY deal, sources say."

I don't know, trading a can of store brand chili for a can of wolf brand chili doesn't mean you're not going to still get diarrhea. In other words, Salmons also has a post-2010 contract, and is a bit pricey for what would, in an ideal world, become a bench SG / SF. Sure, we get a pick [potentially], but if Chicago is wheeling and dealing elsewhere, or hits a free-agency home run (or even something just pretty good), they're all of a sudden a pretty good looking team since they (unlike NY) already have some good pieces that aren't running away this year like Rose, Noah and Deng. Already they're a playoff caliber team who simply would provide a pick that lands us yet another efficient role player.

It appears NY is the team right now and only a matter of working out details on that draft protection stuff. Unless Morey has a completely different move planned.

    That's probably true.

But if the Rockets could pull it off, then by all means, let loose.

bulls out of consideration, so the knicks have been chosen. the delay is about the protection of the picks.

I agree with almost everything you said here, with the only exception being... that talking to SA Smith was a stunt to stop a trade. While it was a stunt it wasnt for stopping any trade as that would have been moot... Tmac was injured, he believed it, he played like it and a world renown surgeon believed it... under those conditions i fail to see how Tmac would have passed any physical required by the other team he would have been traded to, to make it valid. Instead, the reason Tmacs SA smith Stunt was simply to try to embarrass the rockets, make known his unhappiness with Adelman and the rockets and decry his treatment and supposed lack of support by them. Was it an immature, deliberate and confrontational approach against the Rockets, YES! But did it really effect anything other than the further deterioation of the relationship between Tmac and the Rockets... NO.

So we went from Iggy/Dalembert to Haywood/Buttler to Miller/Salmons/Thomas to trash from NY? smh...

Let's be honest here guys, unless there is a real blockbuster deal that Morey is hiding, nobody here in Rocketland can be happy as to what has transpired in the last 2 weeks.

At least for the time being... hopefully.

Depends entirely on how exactly the draft picks fall out to me. But assuming we aren't getting two unprotected lottery picks from NY, I'm inclined towards Chicago. But only slightly.
