Why do people act like the Rockets will be unable to free up cap space to sign a free agent if the Rockets let T-Mac's contract expire?

    I think Jordan Hill sucks.

Jonathan Bender is playing more mins than this guy, and they don't always play different positions. That should tell you something.

If the Philly deal isn't going to happen, the Chicago deal is the best available trade.

hill is a rookie. bynum didnt get any playtime for two or three years before he finally came onto the scene as a star centre. we could certainly see the same with jordan hill.

chicago's players don't really help much in my opinion. if we wanted those chicago players, we could easily trade for them in the summer when we'd have battier + jefferies as expirings to work with.

I'm looking at the past few drafts, the PFs drafted in the top 12. Quite a list of BAD players. Bunch of Ike Diogu, Shelden Williams, Mike Sweetney, Rodney White...

Really outside of Bosh, Amare and Lamarcus Aldridge, actually Tyrus Thomas is one of the handful of PFs drafted in the high lottery thats even a contributor. Lot of bust potential there.

Maybe its cuz its lowering the overall PF standard down, but I dont see Jordan Hill being on the higher end of total bust. Or maybe we should be appreciative of getting Scola and Landry, that they're not just a dime a dozen.

I'm too lazy to dig up the thread...

Any ways...don't you think if WE did have enough money to bring a FA that we'd be in this gamble like all the other teams that would? Don't you think we'd let Tmac expire and maybe trade some of our young players for Amare to try and lure someone to play with Amare/Yao next year?

Do you remember what happen in last summer?
Even Gortat did not choose us...
We do not have a superstar to attract player and our management does not like to pay high salary for a middle player.
Ariza choose us because he does not have other choice. No other team will pay MLE for him.

This is what happens when you don't play much.

That chick is hottt!!! LOL, Ariza should be happy we don't have someone like that among the Houston fans- OUCH, she tore the guy down something serious.

She also got a dig in at Clyde Drexler, for some reason- I guess he's known for his commentary beyond Houston....

Or is that the reason he doesn't play much

While we wouldn't have had max contract money, we would have more money than the MLE.

The chances of their pick being a lotto pick are slim, they DO have the money to sign a Bosh,Boozer,Lebron (unlikely IMO). Also Nash has talked about playing with D'Antoni again. NY is on the way up.

Which was my point, except in the fashion, that you don't have to trade him, to avoid screwing him.

I agree that we would not have max money, but we would have more money.

First off, I didn't think Butler was going to be the "be all that saves all" for us. Same thing with Iggy, and I really do not want Bosh/Boozer paired with Yao. The option I would like to see the Rockets explore the most is JJ.

Whatever your logic may be, for me not coming here is wrong. I have been here listening to all of the madness that comes with a DocRocket post. I was here battling it out, e-mailing whoever, calling the radio stations, when the Rockets didn't give Clutch media creds for I believe a media day. You guys were here for me 4 1/2 years ago, when I lost my home to a fire on Thanksgiving Day. Just because I don't post on here often doesn't mean I am not here reading. Like I said I am not trying to be negative, I just don't believe this trade helps the team. If its a neutral move talent/financially, and all we are obtaining is a right to swap and an unspecified 1st rounder in 2 years, I would prefer just leave it alone.

If you were able to listen to Alan Hahn's interview on 790 yesterday he was saying how Hill just chucks it up when he gets in the game because he knows he's going to get pulled. It would make sense that he misses shots because he's rushing and trying to make things happen.

Hahn also said something to the effect of everyone was already disappointed in NYK for picking Hill especially when they could have gotten Jennings. With Jennings doing so well I would imagine the media, i.e. sportstalk radio, would have a field day trashing the Hill pick. For a raw talent with not a lot of confidence I can imagine the atmosphere in NY could kill a 21 year olds confidence. Let the kid finish out the year and see what he can do. Tmac's contract will expire after this summer, why not get something for it, and set yourself up for the future. On a NYK team with no leadership and a bunch of expirings I'm pretty sure you're not learning as much as you could compared to a team with good leaders like Battier and Hayes.

Hill, and 2 first rounders. That would be a brilliant move. You can't win the lotto without buying a lotto ticket.

Hill is not worth it, definetly not since the Bulls are offering at least 1 good player and also draft pick(s).

We would not be getting 2 picks, we would be getting 1 and the possiblity of moving up.

If Chicago is offering a #1 pick in a stronger draft, I'd say that trumps the NY picks because the players they are offering are way better than NY's.
