I'm not saying don't do the trade but the Rockets really are helping Walsh and the Knicks save face with this one. Selling the two superstar plan for years only to be told they couldn't get the cap space. Massive PR blow. That's got to be worth a motherload.

I'm loving this bidding war....it's like eBay, but for a washed up basketball player.

Possibly top 3, top 5, etc....as opposed to straight lotto. I would be fine with something like that.

they better be unprotected, what's the point if we're not getting the raw deal here.

we're giving them a chance at 2 maximum contracts, that could turn out to be Lebron and Wade, highly unlikely, but just saying.

we're gonna be stuck with a bunch of role players and an injured Yao, either way you look at it, if we don't get a few picks and a young player or 2 in return, we won't be able to contend.

one pick + expirings from chicago isn't looking all that great IMO, we won't resign all 3 players, and they aren't that great. TT is highly overrated here, he's stromile swift. Miller is a big man who can hit perimeter shots (anderson) and Salmons, Hinrich are average guards at best.

    no thanks.

I'll take the picks and Hill.

    THOMAS = 4.8 OFF BOOKS

Damn, hope Morey does some other deals besides this one too! What ever h append to the other supposed better offers? Man, it seems like Morey is bending over to McGrady's wishes! We need to think this through! We should at least get Harrington, man I dont like this one bit! Weren't we also interested in Iguodala or Jamison?

Why no 3rd option? There is no 3rd option. Rockets are settled on these 2 and have to decide on 1. Amar'e wants to play for Miami. Yes even if he does go to Cleveland. So why dont they trade for him now? You're giving up guys like Scola or Landry for a 2 month rental. As for Iggy, they couldn't find a deal suitable enough for Philly.

Salmons would be preferable, that will allow the Rockets to get out of luxury tax this year. Not sure if the Rockets are planning on bringing back Thomas, there seems to be some demand for him and he could cost more to retain than Scola. Maybe he's sign&trade bait for the summer? 1st round pick is nice. Miller might be nice to make a playoff push this year, if he's got some gas left in the tank.

And in exchange for that help, they are getting a lotto big man and another draft pick. I can't even think of many instances where a team shipped off a lotto big man in his rookie season.

Edit: Honestly, either way, I don't expect the Knicks to miss the playoffs. They may not land the megastuds like LeBron or Wade, but even this years team is only 7 games out of the playoffs. Spend the $$ on some guys and they should make the postseason easily.

I absolutely love how Morey has got the Bulls and Knicks waiting on pins a needles on what the Rockets are going to do. Morey is totally playing those two teams off each other. They are both DESPERATE to shed salary to be big players in the FA game and Morey is milking this for all it's worth. High stakes poker indeed!

If Jeffries comes here then I think Battier will be shopped in the next 2 days which could be gold this offseason.

So? What are we going to do with that? Sign Wade?

J.Hill at least has potential and the draft picks could be used to trade for a guy like Chris Paul if the Knicks start to fail.

    THINK AHEAD!

Chris Paul is not going to be in NOH much longer at this rate, they are going to be forced to move him soon.

Plus Hill gets 10mpg, avg 18 and 11 in college. The guy has some talent. Even if his ceiling is Chris Wilcox.

You don't get it. And your caps are annoying.
If you re-sign them after the season, there won't be money to re-sign Scola and Lowry. Thomas is not going to re-sign for 4.8 mill. If you let them expire and not re-sign, then it's just a half year rental, and that's why the NYK trade would be better because those assets will still be there after the season.

Yeah, I'm not going to guarantee this but looking at it, it just makes sense, as long as Hill puts in the effort, then he will play better as a Rocket because we have a better system here, especially for PF's to succeed and playing in NY is just a mess.

I am amazed the Bulls trade is getting so much, I know the players names are better and will make the Rockets this season but Salmons and Jeffries have pretty much same bad contracts. But instead Rockets will be getting a lottery pick bust or not too early to tell, plus 2 first round draft picks. Personally I rather hold onto Tmac than take Bulls deal which would just mean we would have Salmons or Hinrich's contract to worry about.
