This Olympics seems poorly planned: the questions about the safety of the Luge track, the problems during the opening ceremonies, the problems with the ice on the speed skating track, a new problem seems to pop up everyday. I read that they went WAY over budget to put this thing together, there seem to be flaws in the organization.

battle with Evgeni Plushenko and Patrick Chan, could be the best competition of the Game other than Hockey.

The luge accident was inexcusable but it was understandable to some extent. They pushed the limits with this track and when you do that you’re venturing into uncharted waters from a safety standpoint. It was some engineer’s job to figure out all the possible kinds of crashes that could occur on this track and make sure that both the slider and the sled would stay within the track if they do occur. The track has been open for over 2 years now and there have been thousands of runs and hundreds of crashes, but clearly the engineers didn’t account for this particular kind of crash.

At the speed skating oval they decided to use a new, environmentally friendly, kind of “Zamboni”. Zamboni is a brand name but the organizers decided to go with a new all electric model from a different company. There’s a strong environmental theme to these Olympics and that venue in particular and I’m sure that’s why they made that decision, but now that new machine is breaking down. Apparently they’re having a Zamboni shipped in from Calgary’s speed skating oval and that should put an end to the problems.

Our women's curling team sucks ass. They were in control of their game but stupid decisions and missed shots cost them the match. There's no reason they shouldn't have been able to send that to overtime.

    Dang sucks for Lindsey Jacobellis.

From choking gold by showboating in Torino to not making the finals in Vancouver.

Anybody else wonder what's up with the skating judging? Plushenko in first (barely) with a quad-triple but nothing else (besides reputation) to recommend him; shaky landings, mediocre spins, no transition moves, OK footwork but not the best, and no sense of "whole program" or connection with the music. Lysacek and Takahashi both accomplished awesome things and are still behind him.

I have no idea how they do the judging. But I think the scores are fine if all the judges have similar scores. If there are major discrepancies between the scores then there's probably something strange going on.

This Shuster guy is choking away Team USA's chances at curling.

I barely understand the sport but he's had chances to win it for the team two day's in a row and failed both times.

They could still win in the extra end but he let another chance slip away.

    Shuster fail.

Dude choked 3 times in less than 24 hours.

I'm assuming that a reasonably good curler executes at least 2 of those 3 shots, if not all 3, based on the reactions of the commentators.
