Well I was sitting at another table across the room but we were both at a Cafe Express eating our lunch. Everyone loves him so much, he coudn't even eat lunch in peace. Autographs n ****, I could tell his wife was over it... We love you Jeff! I didn't bother you either!
I wouldn't gladly sign autographs because I was being paid. I'm being paid by my team to play ball, not sign autographs. But, If I was a famous ballplayer, I would gladly sign autographs because If I were a fan, I would want to get autographs from my favorite player, not because of how much money I make.
Im sure everywhere he goes, he is getting smothered by fans. It would be nice to be able to go out and have a relaxing meal with your wife. I dont think the size of his contract justifies that.
I got his autograph at a Rockets game once. I saw him headed into the bathroom, so my friend and I waited outside till he came out. No way was I gonna ask him while he was peeing! He signed my Rockets ticket stub, and I still have it.
It's not an easy life for an intravert. No one can pay you enuff to make up for the personal space you lose. Barkely is one of the few who seems to accept it as a positive thing.
but geez... does anyone have enough decency to let the man eat? maybe wait till he's done before asking him to sign an auto?
Poor Bagwell. With the money he makes he can buy his own fancy restaurant with his own private dining room if it's that much of a problem. Bagwell makes more in one game than an EE graduate from UT.
Shouldn't this be entitled "I had lunch NEAR Jeff Bagwell today." LOL As for the autographs...if you wait until the man is done with dinner and show common courtesy he should sign the autograph. But the problem is that EVERYBODY wants one. It would end up being an hour for dinner and 3 hours to sign autographs. I understand that this is the price of fame, but he is a human being not a name signing machine. On the other hand he should be nice and cordial if you wish to exchange pleasantires. Fan: Hey Jeff...you had a great game last night. Jeff: Thanks man...I appreciate the support. That's just called civility.
