I have said it all along, NY is plan Z. Really if you look at it, Hill very well could be a bust. NY would unload all of its bad contracts, re-tool the team, and by the time 3 fn years rolls around and we get their pick, they could be a playoff contender which = bad pick. This trade is a gamble for Houston somewhat, and a real win situation for NY. Jordan Hill has played about as much as T-Mac this year. There has to be a reason why.

I see this as a win-win situation for NY and a small gamble for us, that gives us no immediate known talent upgrade in return.

Way to spin it, JCF!!! Get those Knicks to remove any protections from those future picks, thinking it will be necessary for the Rockets to want to make that deal with them.

Frankly, I don't know HOW the Rockets don't make the Knicks trade as originally reported by Wojo. The actual trade on the table from New York must not be as good as the reported deal.

I think Morey will take on Jeffries if he has a secondary trade lined up to send out Ariza as part of an upgrade for a shooting guard and big man.

That would be ideal and could work but there is no player we can trade for with Ariza as bait without giving up a core player. Doesn't work and this deal with NY is seemingly is getting less and less interesting. Was hoping they get Harrington which would be fun to watch for the rest of the season, but now that he's not in the equation I'm like meh.

I've said it before, but I like how people try to hold "the Steve Francis deal" over Morey...I mean they signed him on the cheap, he made some marginal contributions, got injured/didn't work out etc and he was packed off within a bout a year . didnt' exactly cost them a chance to sign LeBron James - at most it cost them a 2009 2nd Round pick, which was below the picks the Rockets eventually bought anyway.

A combination of expirings from NY, Ariza, and either Hill or one of NY's draft picks out............whatever back.

We really aren't interested in draft picks right now except as trade chips. Morey isn't interested in playing all the stacked odds against of draft picks. He will use them to facilitate trades.

I can see something like Ariza, expirings and a draft pick to Philly for Iggy and a young player like Speights or Thaddeus Young.

I think Morey is still waiting on Walsh to agree to the Chicken and Rice stand.

    Wait a minute,

That would get New York: 2 max slots + T-mac ...to go along with Lee, Gallinari, Nate, Curry, Milicic and Chandler if re-signed at the right time...

If Cleveland does not make it, that could be Wade and Lebron with T-mac on the bench... That is not bad for NY. I understand Morey is pushing.

This also means that swapping picks might have us look like fools...

Jared Jeffries is actually serviceable, contrary to Cook but I still fail to see how we improve: is Harrington + Hugues really better than T-mac playing at our weakest spot?

Didn't you hear? Clyde Drexler just announced he was having microfracture surgery so he could stop the trade from happening outta fear of Walt Frazier coming here. ;)

    That's about right.

I'd say the Knicks deal is the one everybody is talking about, but there's a very good chance that McGrady will go for a different deal, and that there will be 1-2 smaller deals after that, maybe sending Scola out. Right now, I'd say there's a 15% chance that we'll end up keeping T-Mac (but still make smaller deals).

Thing is though, as many have mentioned, we don't have to wait 3 fn years to see where those picks stand. Those picks can be valuable trade chips before anybody finds out whether they're lotto or non-lotto. For example, we can package the picks THIS summer to get an impact player we covet, before NY even gets a chance to lure any max player to their squad.

ric bucher on ESPNNEWS just said the trade is not going down and tmac won't be able to play this season.

so i guess we're just going to sit on tmac and let him expire.
