Hughes is a expiring contract, so it's not that big of a deal. I think Hill+2 picks is the key here.

So, how about Hughes and Scola to Sacramento for Kevin Martin and Nocioni?

I would be ok with this if we could still sign Lowry

You can't trade Hughes with another player after he's traded here. He'd have to be traded alone.

Not to derail, but can you imagine DM at the counter of your drycleaning store (with no pricing signs on the walls):

Customer: Um, sir (attendant behind the counter), how much is it to dryclean a shirt?

    DM: Maybe

Customer: Maybe. I asked how much is it to dryclean a shirt?

    DM: Yes

Customer: Maybe...Yes... I need to get this shirt cleaned! I have a deadline, how much is it to dryclean a shirt?

    DM: Maybe no

Customer: Maybe no... Here just take my wallet, and give me whatever is left over!

DM: Thank you - (removes all cash, hands back wallet). Next.

Next Customer: trembling. ummm, how much is it to dryclean a shirt?

    DM: Just stares

Next Customer: flinches and hands over wallet.

Don't the rockets only have 15 minutes before that is an impossibility.

Granted Lowry might not be too expensive to re-sign, but well-kept secret? LOL. You sound as if other GMs and scouts only watch BSPN highlights...

Kinda overrating Moray a bit, no? If the deal he does is this Knicks deal, it's not some crazy one-sided deal at all. Let's look at the guy fairly. He has managed to get some good players out of the second round, but he has had his fair share of moves that happened turned out as expected (nobody can say the Rockets expected Ariza to shoot below 40% this season, Steve Francis didn't work, the Rockets are not in line to make the playoffs, which is what Moray said his goal for the season was, etc) and this Knicks deal, if it happens, is pretty much what most GMs in the NBA would have been able to get had they been trying to trade McGrady. He is a good GM, but let's save some of this over-the-top praise for when he does something that warrants it.

JCF on 97.5 said he thinks that there is a less than 50% chance that this NYK trade will happen. He says the Rockets are scoping other deals.

Ariza may be shooting below 40% but almost everyone knew this was a reloading year and its the perfect time to see what the players are doing. Ariza is being tested and now its pretty clear that he'll be a good role player, which was the main reason he was signed, anything more would be gravy.

I think people were hoping the Francis deal would work, but it didn't. It was another good low risk move by Morey and he was able to flip him to Memphis in the end for a 2nd rounder.

The Rockets are a few games out of 8th place in the West. I wouldn't say this season is over at this point in time, with or without a trade.

Morey is showing he's darn good and warrants all the praise he's being given. Moray on the other hand probably doesn't warrant the praise.

The trade happens simultaneously if it happens.

Go to the Knicks board and check out how "fair" they think it is.

this way, we don't get Hill but still land Iggy and Sammy, Philly gets back lots of young talent, and NY gets T-MAC and sheds Jeffries contract.

    Next year we are:
    Yao / Dalembert
    Landry / Jeffries
    Ariza / Battier
Iguodala / draft pick or free agency [WAFER, COME BACK] / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Lots of scoring, a lock-down bench defensively, looks good to me.

I think the deal is pretty good and Morey is a good GM, I just think he is a bit overrated on this board considering that the jury is still out on a lot of his decisions and he still has not made that "big" move to that separates the good GMs/teams from the great GMs/teams. I'll change my mind once he lands us a star wing player to go with Yao.

So can anybody please give me a quick recap of the trade?

Is it happening? How big of a chance?

    What's going on?

    Thanks.

Morey will not take Jeffries contract. Nobody wants that and it would be a horrible idea for the future.
