A read from a doctor in a previous article: "We could never find anything structurally wrong with McGrady's knee. After repeated examinations and MRI's we decided to just put a small incision in the skin over his knee and then immediately stitch it back up and tell him he had microfracture done. We felt it was the only thing that might stop his whining. It was also strange to see a grown man cry as much as he did for no apparent reason."
I have been arguing that opting for a potentially career ending surgery just to block a trade was nonsense. Even if you believed McGrady was that stupid, his agents wouldn't have let him do that. Now, it makes more sense to me. Not all microfracture surgeries are created equal. I think TMac's was less risky because of the small size.
