Harrington could be the "Caron Butler" of this deal. Harrington is to Jamison as Caron is to Iggy. Definitely shorter rental with a smaller price. He'd be gravy for us right now. Unless Morey wants to flip him before all is said and done for someone with more years on his contract but I don't know what direction he would take after the initial trade. If Les wants to keep Lowry/Scola and stay under the luxury tax or if Harrington turns out to be a good asset and we want him to be here long term(how can we do this while keeping Lowry/Scola). How would that work? Oh yeah the thought of bringing Harrington over reminds me of Stromile Swift in Rockets red:/.
Ninja Turtles with a headband. Forgot to mention the gravy part. Look at the picks we could possibly get. GOLD.
Enjoyed the breakdown of the proposed trade. I hope it goes down. Not a steal nor a failure for us, but pretty even for both sides. Anyway-this is something you should fix....... "Jared Jeffries finds himself in the same group as Andersen and Hill. He is a great player to have on your team but not necessarily what the Rockets need to get to the next level. If you fused Chuck Hayes and David Anderson together, you would wind up with Jeffries. He brings both players strengths to the table, but also brings their weaknesses. He is a great defender averaging a black and a steal per game while leading the league in charges drawn. However he is a pretty bad rebounder for his size and isn't exactly the strongest guy around.
Man, good job (I see the incoming players being able to help us also). You got all of these editors trying to pick it apart. You also have all these 'NBA GMs' trying to say it is a bad deal for us because it's not what they thought we should have gotten for T-Mac. They want the 3 and 4 team trade scenarios that would make us a contender this year with no Yao Ming. Can't please everybody, especially on this forum. This trade would set us up really nice for the next couple years and also bring in capable NBA players that could help right now. Even if they are not the most perfect efficient players. How about we see what they can do in our system with our guys before we just write them off as scrubs and saying Morey got a bad deal?
Great article. Thanks for the time you put in. For the junkies like myself, who rip the internet apart looking for leads, articles like this are excellent. God forbid you taint your precious eyes with a comma splice. You should. It provides a nice bit of insight.
thanks to everyone that enjoyed the article. all the grammar errors were fixed immediately on the site i published it on so its fine. i would edit on here but i cant eve find an edit button
Ok...so in a nutshell, we have cap room the year AFTER the best FA class in the history of history of history? So....we are assuming that using Moreys infinite genius, we will get a player the caliber of or near the caliber of: LeBron James Dwayne Wade Chris Bosh Joe Johnson Amare Stoudomaier Carlos Boozer...etc? Really? I don't like this strategy. Want to be in the FA sweepstakes THIS year. I am tired of building and hoping and nucleus and blah, blah, blah. Its been 15 years of nucleus crap. Lets get greedy and play with the big boys. Or just remember its ok to win 45 games a year and a first or second round exit when it becomes the constant.
Great read. I was on board with the trade as soon as I heard it was possible.....to turn Mac into essentially 2 first rounders (Jordan Hill being one of them), a potentially HIGHER first rounder than we already have, AND a second rounder is fantastic. The Knicks are putting all their eggs in one basket with this deal, so if they don't end up signing 2 superstars this off-season, the Rockets could be looking at about a decade of fruitfulness from this trade. If this is plan B, I would love to see what Plan A is now.
we're not going to be big players in this FA class by trading mcgrady or letting his contract expire. that's why if morey does this trade, it's for 2 main reasons: 1) build for the future or 2) will use these picks + one of our best players for a star in a sign and trade. if we're going to get a star, it's going to be via this method. nobody is going to come here via FA.
