Wasn't it said that Amar'e hated Houston?

I'd still take him anyway and produce some sort of a S&T this offseason, someone should be willing to pull that trigger, right.

I like the fact that no one really has any idea of what route Morey's going to take, kind of an exciting mystery.

Hardy Boys have found a raging clue!

leebigez, once again, we agree to disagree. I'll take a slightly more diplomatic approach with you than studdog did. :)

While I agree that Eddy Curry is capable of scoring on the low block, he does absolutely NOTHING else to help a team win and, in fact, actually hurts you more on the defensive end than he helps on offense. And frankly, he's not THAT much better than Scola or Landry (if at all) as far as a low post offensive option.

And once Yao comes back next year, there will be no point to having Curry on the team. He will not add anything of value to the rotation. Not when a guy like Chuck Hayes can come off the bench for 15 minutes and give you strong defense. To pay $11.2M next season just to add an extra low post scorer for the final 30 games THIS season??? I just don't get it.

And while I see your salaries on your proposed trade, that doesn't get the Rockets below the luxury tax. It saves the Rockets about $2M instead of the $11M that the "Jeffries trade" would save Les. It also adds an extra $4-5M in 2010-11 salary that would be in lieu of possibly re-signing Scola or perhaps using the MLE to address any number of weaknesses on this team.

There is just no justification for swapping Curry in for Jeffries in this deal. The Knicks couldn't possibly give up any more future picks to make the deal MORE enticing to Morey. What? A 2014 first rounder? Not worth it for the extra $18-19M total (this year and next year) in extra salary commitments plus luxury tax that it would cost Les Alexander.

(And, as an aside, not addressed at you, leebigez, I just love it how several of the critics of this proposed trade hate that Jared Jeffries is coming back in the deal. They want the picks without taking back Jeffries. Well, guys!!! WHY do you think the picks are being included??? It's BECAUSE the Rockets are willing to take back Jeffries! Assuming the Rockets want to keep Scola and Lowry next year, then taking back Jeffries's contract does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to adversely affect the Rockets from a salary cap/luxury tax standpoint, other than adding some extra salary to Les's books. They can still keep Scola and Lowry. They can still use the MLE while not exceeding the luxury tax threshold. And they get a bunch of future picks and Jordan Hill. What is there NOT to like about being willing to take on Jeffries's contract?!?!?!)

They absolutely are tied into Curry. Curry pushes you closer to the luxury tax line, which means signing Scola to a deal might not be as simple as matching another offer. If his offer takes us over the Luxury Tax line, it will cost us double for every dollar over the line he is. If Scola signs for ~6M, and ~2M of that is over the Luxury Tax line, his deal essentially becomes ~8M. Obviously you don't understand the salary cap well enough to grasp this fact. Curry affects our ability to re-sign Scola and Lowry because we would be pushing the Luxury Tax line, a line Les has said he'd only cross for a star (re: NOT Dalembert, Scola, or Lowry.)

At this present time, Scola has to be viewed as a 2 month rental. A team could offer him more money in the offseason than the Rockets would be willing to match.

Amar'e is destined for Miami, if of course he isn't traded there. He can go to Cleveland, Phi, Houston, stay in Phx, he wants to go to Miami. Not worth it to acquire him when he is bound to leave imo

I don't like the chances of Amare resigning here if traded.

Something tells me that Scola is too loyal to leave Houston. He loves it here and loves his teammates way too much. I wouldnt be suprised if he is willing to lose money to resign here. Plus, he'll miss Nuno way too much, lol!

I couldn't disagree more. He's an asset of the Rockets, signed to a contract clearly below his market value, but more than he was offered, per year, in a 5 year deal from his Spanish team, that he could have picked had he wanted to stay there. We can match any offer this summer, which will limit his offers from other teams. He clearly loves playing in Houston with the Rockets and I've gotten the distinct impression that he's dreading the possibility of being dealt. In my opinion, everything is aligned to keep Luis if that is what Morey wants to do and we have the cap space. A "rental?" Not hardly.

Okay, if Chicago gonna enter to the trade talks, I have an idea.

    Three team trade;

    Houston sends:
    Tracy McGrady
    Joey Dorsey
2011 1st round pick to Chicago

    Houston gets:
    Jordan Hill
    Jared Jeffries
    John Salmons
    Tyrus Thomas
2011 1st round pick from Chicago

    New York sends:

    Al Harrington
    Jordan Hill
    Jared Jeffries
2012 1st round pick to Houston

    New York gets:

    Tracy McGrady
    Joey Dorsey

    Chicago sends:

    John Salmons
    Tyrus Thomas
2011 1st round pick to Houston

    Brooks/Lowry
    Salmons/Battier
    Ariza/Chase
    Scola/Landry/J.Hill/Jeffries
    Tyrus/Hayes/Andersen/Yao

Then hurry up and try to trade Scola+something for Kevin Martin type player if it gets accepted, very nice. If it's not we can deal Scola this summer while signing with Tyrus and Lowry.

    Why Knicks do this?

BCause they're ready to take McGrady and spread salary, while they're just giving away just 1 pick.

    Why Chicago do this?

They're offloading Salmons contract, and swapping picks with Houston. Why not to do if you are in the race for a hot FA this summer.

    Same here.

But you wouldn't see him being on Morey's list as a "valuable asset" this upcoming off season?

I think Morey would probably be able to pull something out of his wizard sleeve and conjure up a 3 team deal with Amar'e headed to NY, CHI, MIA, or CLE; whichever team either Wade or James are in.

I'd see this as something very plausible, no.

Teams can trade future draft picks up to seven years out, so we could conceivably get picks in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
