Do you give up 2010 first round pick to complete NY deal?

You choice?

  1. Not giving up a potential lottery pick. Keep McGrady.

  2. If that's what it takes, trade him. Jordan Hill was a lottery pick anyway.

    Okay?

I have no doubt in my mind that whoever Morey picks in the 1st round (even if we make the playoffs and have a pick in the 20's) will be three times better of a trade asset than Hill.

NY knows we're in a hurry.

Speaking of which, after this trade, we will have these pieces with which to make another trade, maybe to get an Iguodala or Kevin Martin:

    Scola (expiring)
    Battier
    Lowry (expiring)
    Harrington or Hughes (expiring)
Jefferies (expires 17 months from now)
    Jordan Hill
    NY 2012 pick

Maybe we don't want to give up Lowry or Hill, but we'd do so to bring back a hot player.

Even if we DIDN'T give up the pick, I still wouldn't really want to do that trade. But with it? F*** no.

You posted what I was going to say. I'll add that the $2 million dollar trade kicker that we just found out was added to Jeffries' already stupid contract by Isiah is yet another burden placed upon the Rockets from this deal. I'd rather walk away from the Knicks. Let them eat their cap space, or cake, whichever they prefer.

Exactly. 0% chance I include our 2010 pick. If it's included, suddenly this becomes a horrible deal for us. We have to eat Jeffries contract and lose our 2010 lottery pick (this trade doesn't help us make the playoffs) all for the sake of a 2011 pick, option of switching 2010, and Jordan Hill? No thanks.

If the rumor of the Knicks wanting Houston's 2010 1st rounder are true, I'd walk away if I was Morey.

Why do we need to sacrifice our pick as an asset?

Our 1st rounder will be OUR player. Hill and picks would be a package or even insurance if Scola leaves.

I don't think Morey would be that stupid in giving away a great asset as Houston's 1st rounder for 2010.

And those are just potential guys. Another potential guy, who I like a lot, and think has a chance to be better than any of those is Demarcus Cousins. He's a mix of potential in an NBA ready body.

Not to mention other guys like Cole Aldrich and Patrick Patterson who are more NBA ready...

Walsh is prepared to let his chances of signing two max players slip away over not getting enough for Jordan "Who?" Hill? I'd be pretty ****ing astonished. If you want Morey to take Jared "Money Pit" Jeffries off your hands and give you a stab at Wade, you're going to have to PAY HIM TO DO IT. Not the other way around.

I'm not saying the pick will be necessarily an asset. I'm saying that the pick will probably be a better player and an asset than Jordan Hill will be and if that's what they're asking for Hill then there's no way we should do it.

    Yes,

Hill as the number 8 pick we won't get one that high this year.

Letting McGrady expire could cost us $15 million in cap room.

I am at DFW in the Admirals Club, waiting to catch a flight, and as for Vegas, I don't like it anymore.

Went a lot in my 20s and 30s, now I just think it is a big waste of time, except for the poker rooms of course.

Playing in a $200 buy in Holdem tourny tonight.
