Not good news, hopefully Chicago makes it known that they also want Tmac. Otherwise Morey has no leverage here if the NYK can just wait to buy him out.

Yesterday it seemed to be so close, and now it doesn't.

If this deal goes through, lets just hope the Knicks fail to land a star or are not planning to recruit any stars at their prime. If they keep McGrady and recruit someone along the lines of Bosh, Wade or Lebron. We can say goodbye to our lottery picks. Let's just hope if they DO sign a star, the star will fail to follow D'Antoni's system.

The 8th pick in last years draft is trash to you?

This may have been discussed in the previous 44 pages, but what ever happened to not being able to trade consecutive first round draft picks? I thought that was a rule?

    it's not about leverage...

if the rockets buy out tmac the knicks are still stuck with jeffries. if the knicks want to clear more cap space than just one max contract, in order to sign a max player AND keep david lee, then they have to deal with the rockets.

the leverage is already heavily in moreys favor. either you make the trade of you lose david lee.

anything that doesn't cripple the team's long term salary is great

anything that involves getting rid of t-mac and getting some players in return without having to give up our 8 or in this case, 9 rotation players that's even better

i believe they got pretty close in negotiations. there was word that walsh countered by asking for the rockets first rounder this year.

maybe that's become a deal breaker for both sides... but i doubt they can't work through that. draft picks are easy value to work with. if you dont want to give up a first, make it a protected first and let them keep their second round pick, etc... lots of options when working with picks.

i think they are just negotiating that down to the deadline, but at the end of the day when walsh needs to dump jeffries to keep lee i think he gives in that extra little bit to get the deal done.

    You are right, IMO.

Every team wants to get as much value as they can. There are still two days left so they can still talk.

But I belive the trade will be done by thursday, especially since walsh and mcgrady's agent are close friends.

Jeffries comes along with a $2M trade kicker added if he's dealt here.

Agree that they overpayed and overextended the years on his contract, but they didn't sign him for his offense.

As we all know, the Rox couldn't give up their 1st rounder this year, anyway.

I hope Tellem isn't giving Walsh bad advice: "I'd hold out til the last second and then 'cave in'. Don't let them deal your players to a third team if that takes away a free agent you want this summer." To which Morey can say, "I've got Chicago all panting and hot over here in the corner, so what's it gonna be? 'Cause I AIN'T giving you a 1st rounder. You know, after I keep McGrady, maybe I'll just let Scola go, you know, renounce his rights. You can sign him and I'LL sign David Lee to $11 million a year---oh, what? You accept the deal now?"
