I don't think we are standing pat,...I think we are standing tall and proud knowing we have the building tools and materials to make the house rock and be on top again! JOOP! JOOP!
It's not accurate to say we've added EG, Ming, Boki, and Rice to a 45 win team. Two years ago, we got solid contributions from Hakeem and Shandon.
The only teams that should stand pat are, LAL, and Sac. The Rockets still need to make some moves. When you get content with a team that didn't make the playoffs, ****s getting pretty stupid. And yea, we added Ming and Boki which is good. But nobody is positive how big of a difference that will make. For everybody that gets too comfortable, don't be crying if we endup kissing a lottery pick goodbye to J. West.
You can talk about other teams making deals and getting better, if the Rockets can cut a deal for health and chemistry then I guarantee a playoff berth this season.
The team is adding Mo, Rice, Ming, Nachbar, and Francis and Mobley to the team essentially (because of health and the draft), and also have maturing players (Griffin, Torres). This team was decimated with injuries, now they're healthy with the addition of an athletic 6-10 SF and a 7-5 multi-talented center. I would say that is a big enough addition to this team. This team is far more talented, athletic, and versatile then the 45 win team.
How is it not accurate? Just because Dream and Shandon was here does not change the fact that we have added size, scoring, rebounds, and youth since that season. Dream and Shandon did not contribute alot... Dream 12 ppg Shandon 9 ppg So add in EG 9 ppg ( which will most likely be higher since that was his rookie average) Ming 10 ppg Boki 8 ppg Rice 9 ppg It seems after doing the math we have doubled the output of Dream and Shandon with the additional players. Plus we get younger and we get better with every game the kids play together. Also do not forget to add in a more mature Cat, Steve, & MoT. Looks like we could be in for a great season!!!
Not sure I get this one. The Rockets feel like they added starters at two positions in the draft (both long-term). They also feel like the recovery from injuries adds two MORE starters back (Taylor and Rice) and puts ANOTHER starter back at 100 percent (Francis). In addition, they got a year's worth of experience under the belt of Griffin. I just can't imagine why anyone would see that as standing pat.
