General things that a lot of conservatives are for, but not necessarily me or others on this board. http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html Contract with America ------ FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress; SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse; THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third; FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs; FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee; SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public; SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase; EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting. ------- The Constitution...strict reading to prevent the government from usurping Civil Rights despite recent stuff. Protecting Civil Rights. States Rights. This gives more power to the people to customize their States the way they want them. America is all about options, but without States' rights, you have to depend that both parties agree on the option you like. Generally prolife due to large number of Christians who believe life starts at conception, but this isn't really something that comes out of conservative philosophy. Tend to be more for helping all businesses succeed than democrats. Generally are not as environmental as they should be or democrats. Smaller central government only providing what a central government is better at providing than local government. Money. Having property, money is a big civil right since it allows people to do things they want in a capitalist society. It allows a person to advance one's self and provides more choises for an individual. Excessive taxation is a fancy way of oppressing people's civil rights.
