So trading away your starting point guard is low risk? Drafting a second round pick to be your starting PF is low risk?

Because we don't have the funds? It's been established a long time ago that just because we have a 23 million expiring contract does not mean we'll have 23 million to spend. We'll have about 8, give or take, and Lebron nor Wade nor Johnson is coming to Houston for 8 million. And that 8 million comes at the cost of Scola and Lowry. You really have no idea what you're talking if you think Wade is coming via free agency.

We don't have the money to sign any big name free agents with or without this trade, what don't you get.

This deal doesn't help much in the short-term but in the long-term it's a fantastic trade. The Rockets get 2 Knicks first rounders (most likely lottery) and Jordan Hill, who is another valuable asset. Hughes/Harrington is an expiring but could be valuable as a late-season rental.

Obviously this guy hasn't been paying attention. Is there a face palm emoticon? I don't see anything too bad about this deal. But does this really mean morey isn't planning maybe another small move? I'll take this one. Could be better but it could definitely be worse. Morey is the man.

Does anyone find it weird that this has only been reported by Wojnarowski? Not to discredit the man, but the Caron Butler trade was being reported on by Wojnarowski, Stein, Spears.. but this has only been one article by Wojnarowski and not much since..

A contract that expires at the end of 10-11 will be useful in a S&T next summer as filler surrounding our cheap/young outgoing centerpiece(s).

Imagine we're trying to get Bosh in a sign-and-trade next summer. We offer Carl Landry as compensation, and Toronto likes the idea. Landry makes 3 million, but Bosh will be making 16 million once the Raptors sign him for us. We'll need some pointless throw-in to make the salaries match, and Toronto would prefer that contract not last past the upcoming season. That's when Jeffries' contract expires.

I think its to open up roster spots....but b/t harrington and Hughes I go with the two guard(we have plenty of PF), giving Hill some minutes in at the 4/5 should be a priority.....If this trade gets done I say they start Hill at the 5 to get some experience...

PS. I bet Budinger would be excited to play with his old teammate from Arizona... :)

fail. i didn't know harrington was washed up. i also didn't know getting potentially 3 picks was a bad thing.

also, i agree w/ bimathug. jefferies isn't that bad. can guard anyone from the 2 - 5, and gives us a bit more depth in the front court.

oh, and jordan hill? if he fails to pan out, he'll be another dorsey. plain and simple. we're basically trading our failed experiment for another new experiment.
