That's the whole point.... If all it is taking is Hickson and Z, then the Rockets have better players to offer for Amare.
You're forgetting one HUGE bullet point. The Rockets and Suns are in the same conference. If PHX trades to Cleveland, the possibility of them getting burned won't come until the NBA finals, should both PHX and Cleve make it there.
not exactly. he didn't want to do tmac for iguodala/dalembert straight up because he felt that he was doing the sixers a favor by clearing their salary cap. he wanted a sweetener to do the favor. lets suppose that was williams... the sixers felt that they were giving up a lot of talent to clear their cap and didn't think a sweetener was needed... in fact they felt that iguodala was the sweetener to take on dalembert's contract. so, morey asks for williams and the sixers counter by requesting lowry be added to the trade. of course morey turns that down because he felt that he shouldnt have to give up anything else in the trade, the sixers felt that they shouldn't have to give up williams, and the talks cooled off.
I disagree. Lou Williams is overrated and overpaid. He's not a real PG. Plus, that trade would have put the Rockets in luxury tax hell in perpetuity. Morey was right to reject it.
as bad as the knicks want tmac, morey better rape them on a deal, if that's who he ends up dealing with...
I never wanted Butler to begin with, so I'm glad that fell through. Hopefully this will light a firecracker under Morey's a$$ and make a move for Iggy. From what I understood from before, we wanted Iggy, but not Dalembert. I never had a problem taking both contracts, Dalembert would be a great backup for Yao. Expensive backup, yes, but that's what we need to keep Yao's minutes in check to keep him healthy. I like Jamison too, but I think Iggy and SD would be a better choice. Do whatever it takes to get Iggy, except trading Brooks or Landry. Trade Scola if we have to, then resign him in the offseason.
This could work: Houston -- trades T-Mc to Chicago -- receives Al Jefferson ($12M) + Salmons ($5.5M) + Cardinal ($6.75 expiring) + Chicago's #1 + a Minnesota #1 Chicago -- trades B. Miller ($12.25M) + Tyrus Thomas ($4.75) + Salmons ($4.75M) + Taj Gibson ($1M) + their #1 -- receives T-Mc ($23.5) Minnesota -- trades Al Jefferson ($12M) + Cardinal ($6.75M) + a #1 (one of three) -- receives Brad Miller ($12.25) + Tyrun Thomas ($4.75) + Taj Gibson ($1M) If Minnesota did not want Miller or if Chicago did not want to give up Brade Miller's expiring, Luol Deng works just as well. Real GM Trade ID Trade ID #5462530 We end up with Al Jefferson, which means we can trade Scola or Landry, for a quality player while picking up an extra two #1s to trade for a mega lottery pick (hope we do better than when we traded for Eddie Griffin under the same scenario).
My humble opinion is we need another star that can create his own shot or discombobulate the defense when it matters. Its cringing to watch AB with the ball in his hands trying to make a play since he really isn't a player maker. Even next year with Yao in there, he's shown again and again he either can't or is afraid to get the ball to Yao or even Landry, especially when fronted. Yao's mobility doesn't help matters. I don't want a team of 11 excellent role players and Ming. I love the AB/Lowry PG tandem we have, but I would not be surprised if the star we get is a PG.
that's exactly what i was thinking lol....we need to get all the talent we can from them, and flip it, either this week or this summer, if not expiring. Or i guess we can always sign and trade who get.
As StevieRebel mentioned or rather passed along in the long Knicks thread about Phoenix and Chicago talking/making offers: First, I don't deserve thanks today. Got sick and went to bed last night. Second, they are absolutely talking to Chicago. I'll have more on that shortly in the blog entry I should have done last night. -- Jonathan) Jonathan - are the Rockets more tight-lipped than other organizations? If so, that would explain why the Houston news media never is the first with a Rockets' scoop, they are always coming from Yahoo, ESPN or some other out-of-state outlet. (They are very tight on some things. Sometimes, they let the national media get things wrong if it creates an impression that might help them, such as the Butler to Houston rumor, or draft opinions. Different organizations do things differently. You rarely hear anything out of San Antonio or Utah unless it comes from the other team. The Rockets are also talking to Phoenix and Chicago, but we keep hearing the details out of New York. The national media knows who is in chage in the other cities, too, but has gotten info out of New York. Also, beat writers in general can't get things wrong. For example, the Butler rumor was generated in New York, but he was never going to go to Houston. The Rockets, however, liked that being out there for any potential benefit it might have had in trade talks with other teams. Also, local media report many things too insignificant for the national media but of interest to local readers and viewers. -- Jonathan) (It's definitelyt not sealed. I think Adrian used the right word -- "framework." There are other things Daryl is working on, too. -- Jonathan)
Offer TMac, Scola, Dorsey and a second for Amare, Frye, and Barbosa. That would be a good deal for both teams...
Forgive me, but its difficult for me to believe that morey would pass up on that deal. Something were probably not seeing.
It would seem Chicago is giving up a little too much. The media has made it apparent are Thomas and Salmons are their export targets and maybe even Miller. However, Gibson and another #1? Gibson didn't play great at the Rookie Soph game, but he is was there. Secondly, they have to feel good about a Noah/Gibson combo. I doubt they want to break that up. And a pick......? Chicago has been doing pretty well with there picks, it would seem they would be pretty fond of that little asset.
Howey, NO DEAL !!!!!! It is becoming apparent that we won't make a deal. At least involving T-Mac. We may make another smaller player swap deal like the Alston.Lowry trade. Just seems like teams we are dealing with are hitting the gag reflex as soon as their pen is about to touch the paper to sign off cuz Morey won't break up the core to get back role players, projects or draft picks. Oh well - off season dreaming about Bosh, I guess.
Iggy, is only player that is in the rumor worth getting, chicago, and new york does not really have anythin they can offer besides expiring contracts, and picks. I mean Deng is nice shooting foward, but i still take iggy just because he can stay healthy and does have all the tools for sg in terms rockets point of view ( can defend, pass, steal etc). But once he gets here, I want him to play in score menality. Sometimes i think he is too unselfish. But yea, trade with ny is ok, and chicago idea is better than Ny trade... But Iggy is the real deal here
I wouldn't mind receiving Tyrus Thomas + CHI 1st pick(around 14th-16th)+ Filler for T-mac + Dorsey(I'm not high on this guy at all ) --RB
*Gasp* IGGY?! I hope that comes through, maybe iggy and Thomas in a 3 way deal. Although Dalembert would be nicer to me as we have the two basic dynamics of a center. Yao-one with touch, some good foot work skills, can pass pretty well and then Dalembert- a guy who's a banger, shot blocking, and can jam the ball in the hoop
